    OH is in a funny mood today. Tetchy and when I asked him why he told me he just doesn’t like a dirty house. We’ve both been sitting doing nothing yesterday, as it is one of our few days off. Well I  say nothing but I did do some work and washing and shopping etc. but he’s working today so can’t clean and told me not to do it but I can’t have anyone thinking my house is dirty. so I got all cross and have cleaned the kitchen sink, emptied both bins, done 2 loads of washing, cleaned both bathrooms and downstairs loo. Tidied the kitchen and garden, done the litter tray. Swept up and tidied the lounge. The house wasn’t dirty as such, yes the work tops needed wiping and the bathrooms were in need of a bit of a clean but his OCD can be such a pain sometimes, he couldn’t sit down to eat his breakfast until he’d wiped the cooker etc and is upset we haven’t got any kitchen roll as I forgot to get it yesterday. But was fine with it yesterday 🤷🏻‍♀️.

    So with all that being done, I am having a rest before I pick the children up from school and go for my drs appointment. I have Mays parents evening on zoom tonight. I’ve had to rearrange Roo’s. Fajitas for dinner today I think. Or omelette we’ll see.
  • Hmmm….I’ve got very thick skinned about cleaning. I realised it was just me doing it, so now I don’t do half as much and the choices are do it yourself or don’t mention it 😬 I won’t feel guilty for not feeling responsible for 100% of the cleaning when we both work full time. It will never be shared equally, but I won’t pick up the slack unless I want to now 😁

    I like that philosophy @WinterWarrior! I do more cleaning during the week, but I work part time. At the weekend we tend to split pretty evenly. There have been times he’s done more cleaning than me though, when we met and moved in together I was still a slobby student 🤣

    I have however realised I seem to be almost solely responsible for “family admin” - everything from helping with homework (no mean feat as my child is schooled in another language which I’m very much a beginner in), organising vet appointments, comparison shopping for bills, taking the kids to the dentist, keeping track of school holidays & organising holiday childcare etc…

    Hope your epic clean made you feel great in your house @missymoo81!

    It sound like it was a mainly successful day for you.  Did the school say how they are going to help May?  They need to put things in place too.  Not everyone learns in the same way and the school need to look at adapting things so she can learn her way too

    Hey @slm6002 thank you so much for your message. May is just under the expected line. I should do more at home with her I’m just always in such a hurry. I need to find some more time to go through things with her. Lockdown didn’t help her where as Roo can’t get enough of learning. We went through May’s 9 x table this morning and that really seemed to help her. I’ve learned writing stuff down doesn’t help her. She needs to say it and think it. So I think over the next couple of days I’m going fo come up with a plan to implement on Monday. The school is great and have always helped. It’s just an extra little push and some more attention she needs not me listening to her read whilst doing 100 other things!!!

    My daughter is the same about having to vocalise and explain her thinking. I've found that practicing times tables and small divisions whilst we're are driving around in the car tends to work very well and is a good use of that time.
    Bottom line;
    £49k paid off
    Car HP paid off
    Debt Free!
    Saved Escape fund and moved out.

    Current focus; saving Emergency fund

    Hey @Kakiste it’s so good to see you, thank you so much for that. I do her spellings whilst we’re driving to school, maybe I should integrate times tables too. Prob need a longer drive to school then! Think I just need to get everyone reading earlier and be organised. What I think is half an hour is probably 15-20 mins when books have been found and spelling lists retrieved! I’ve just realised I’m actually doing hair, getting the children to brush their teeth and get their coats on in that half an hour too! So I need to get everyone sat down reading at 7.50. Right new plan for Monday!
  • Would it work better to do homework at another time @missymoo81? Doing it in the morning sounds stressful to me! As you’ve noted, there’s lots needing done in that timeframe already! We are in the “homework after school” camp instead. Obviously might not work for you!
