Ooh thank you all so much. I really appreciate the advice on the sorting of phones @Elisheba that doesn’t sound too bad. I will go further into it tomorrow and hopefully commit and make myself do it.

@slm6002 i do try and hand stuff down to May she’s so good she doesn’t mind wearing Roo’s stuff, she has all of his hand me down trainers and pyjamas and hoodies. Sometimes the odd T-shirt. I’ve found some good stuff on FB marketplace for Roo, he’s really small for his age so I’m going to try 9 years and 10z I just need to figure out what’s the best deal! Oh that’s reminded me to order May’s shoes! I forgot earlier! Thank you @ladyholly I forgot about charity shops! Might be good for Roo’s jeans.

Hey @redofromstart so lovely to see you! Yes Roo LOVES his bananas, although he now loved apples just as much. It’s hard to keep up! Where as I have to remind May to eat hers. She prefers grapes and cherry tomatoes though. Ooh yes cheap chocolate I can definitely use some of that in making muffins etc.

We had Thai red curry for dinner, I went to lidl and spent £12 but didn’t get everything. I can’t remember which lovely person told me to squash down the tinned cat food with a fork….. but lidl didn’t have the sachets so had to buy tins, so I squashed the food down with a fork and they both ate it!!!!!’ This will hopefully be massively money saving for me. I will compare prices shortly and see what a saving that will be if we switch.

    So cat food prices!

On sachets if I buy the Tesco ones, as lidl very rarely have them in stock. I would have to buy 4 big boxes a month which equates to £38. But the Tins which lidl do have, would only come in at £19 a month, which is a huge saving at half the price!!!
Also the tins are a lot more easily recycled! That’s a definite switch I’m going to make!!! Very happy about that!

Introduce the new food slowly @missymoo81, perhaps mixing old food and new food for a while. And I wouldn't buy a lot at once in case they just refuse it! If they prefer smaller pieces then I mash it up with a fork for one of my cats, so it looks like mush. She has slightly deformed teeth so it's much easier for her like that. Good luck!

Edited to say I've just seen your previous post about them eating the tinned food and mashing it with a fork  :D

Thanks @Elisheba. I can’t believe they ate it so readily. Such a result!
  • Hi @missymoo81i was just thinking of you while I was in t3sco doing my 0lio collection. They had a massive sale on kids clothes & shoes - I got a pair of trainers for DC3 reduced from £18 down to £3. Might be worth a look if you’ve not already sorted what you need.

Someone on FB might have come up trumps with bundles of 9-10 and 10-11 clothes. She’s going to let me know this evening what she’s found. It’s a half hour drive but it will be worth it.

I’m watching extreme couponing. I wish we had coupons like that here in the UK. They seem to be able to get so much for nothing. Although I don’t know what I’d do with 67 bottles of mustard…..

I’m trying to be really mindful of what I’m eating, I snack a lot, I’m trying to work it out so that I’m not taking lunch food etc. Going to make some cakes / biscuits today with the children.

Can anyone recommend any tv shows / blogs / diaries / YouTube things to watch re living frugally and saving etc? It really helps me keep focussed.

I enjoy Below the Median on YouTube. Frugal Queen in France is quite good as well although she is a bit school teacher-ish I find. I'm also working my way through the Frugalwoods blog.

Excellent news about the clothing bundles if they work out!

So I’ve just done some washing at 20degrees and hung it up. I’ve turned everything off at the wall. And have sorted the dry washing into the right rooms. Needs to be put away but is in the right place at least. Getting hungry now, might have my porridge. Have foregone my biscuits this morning!
