£35 charge for going over £1
I will probally get a telling off for this but oh well.
You are either stupid or completley insensitive to people's situations no wonder people have a go at you in your branch, if you was saying this to me to my face I would be tempted to slap you in the face.
I have got in !!!! with bank charges. I had one charge for going slightly over, which I couldn't afford to pay in the first place, it has grown and grown and grown to the point I want to hang myself because I can't afford to pay it, I was too late to get it back due to the test period.
Well said kylie - there are instances, on the DFW board, where dd's have not been paid, because they would have made posters 30 pence overdrawn - this simple refusal to 'show a bit of flexibility' has resulted not only in the account holder incurring charges from the Bank, but also charges from the creditor to whom the payment was due to be made.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

letters what bloody letters I have never received 1 letter let alone 4.
It is shown on my statement and then taken when I have money in my account.
I am hoping that Banker girl is a plant to show the responces in the court case.
Nobody is this stupid0 -
And i would just like to point out, in terms of DDS, it is NOT the bank that refuses the payment, DDS are AS STATED IN THE MANDATE controlled not by0

I was told, by my Bank, that even if a credit arrives in the Bank, at 9.00, it will NOT be credited to my account until close of Banking, that day. I was shown, on the computer screen, a screen showing that a transfer had been received and was due to be credited to my account. IN SPITE OF THIS, BG, the Bank refused two DDs, incurring £56 cost, and would not let me draw against the credit until the next day.
Forget, for a moment, the 'lawfullness' of this - it is, quite frankly, taking the p1ss.
AND YOU CAN TRANSFER MONEY FROM SAVINGS ACCOUNT TO A CURRENT IN AN INSTANT........
Pray and can anybody enlighten me just exactly what the difference is that doesnt allow it from what is so obviously a banks holding account to be treated in the same manner as the above? The years starts today ....0 -
And i would just like to point out, in terms of DDS, it is NOT the bank that refuses the payment, DDS are AS STATED IN THE MANDATE controlled not by the bank but by the company that holds the DD, when the company COMES FORWARD TO CLAIM it, it is THIER DESCRETION whether to take the money when the funds are available and WAIT FOR THE FULL FUNDS TO CLEAR or to send it back unpaid and try again later. THE BANK HAVE NO CONTROL over this. So it is not the banks fault when DDS are returned. Just to clarify.0

The DDs are processed overnight and would already have been rejected by the time your credit supposedly arrived at 0900.I was told, by my Bank, that even if a credit arrives in the Bank, at 9.00, it will NOT be credited to my account until close of Banking, that day. And it's not "taking the p1ss". It's doing what your account terms and conditions require - you have to have the money there by close of business the previous working day, precisely because outgoing payments are processed overnight before the next day's receipts arrive.0 -
Whilst Banker Girl has said some things in this thread which make sense, this post is gibberish and completely incorrect. Each bank decides whether to pay or reject a DD against one of their customers' accounts, depending if there are available funds or, if not, whether they want to let the customer go overdrawn or not. It's nothing to do with the originator.BANKER_GIRL wrote: »And i would just like to point out, in terms of DDS, it is NOT the bank that refuses the payment, DDS are AS STATED IN THE MANDATE controlled not by the bank but by the company that holds the DD, when the company COMES FORWARD TO CLAIM it, it is THIER DESCRETION whether to take the money when the funds are available and WAIT FOR THE FULL FUNDS TO CLEAR or to send it back unpaid and try again later. All the originator can choose to do is to re-submit the DD if it bounces the first time.0 -
I don't understand your point. In rog2's case, the money arrived one clearing day too late to meet the DD. End of story.AND YOU CAN TRANSFER MONEY FROM SAVINGS ACCOUNT TO A CURRENT IN AN INSTANT........
