Sealed Pot Challenge ~ 15

Hi all.
It's been a while but I did make a note on my desktop screen to remind me that our opening date is fast approaching.

You've all been talking about Covid, I've pretty much managed to avoid it so far. Mum, unfortunately hasn't. She caught it in Hospital, not sure how this has happened. She originally went in for a fall & bump to her head weeks ago, this turned into Pneumonia, to go with her Copd(spelling?) and lastly Covid. Her social worker has been in touch with me to say she was hoping Mum could come home sometime this week coming, but can't give an update, except she's still on oxygen, as the ward aren't answering the phone. Mum hasn't had a visitor for two weeks and I'm worried sick because she may think she's been abandoned. I guess one little positive note is Mum can't smoke and she promised me she wouldn't restart when she comes home, I think she's been a smoker for around 70 years.

Nothing has gone in my saving tin recently, no room, but I did appreciate that £66 applied to my account from EonNext, it meant my October electric bill was reduced to...zero! I also contacted them recently to ask for a refund of £136, as my account has just been getting into more & more credit since they raised my monthly bill back in April. Waiting for them to fob me off with a lame excuse why I can't have it & I've got my reply ready for when that happens!

I will be back (hopefully) on Thursday for the grand opening... Are you treating everyone to a bottle of wine this year Sue?

That must be a real worry for you @rancid-a. Hope your Mum is allowed home very soon.
I had an uncle who gave up smoking after 70odd years, so it can be done. He lived to the age of 95.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mum, rancid-a, It must be such a worry for you.  Fingers crossed she will be home soon and, hopefully, not smoking.  With COPD she mustn't do it!

Can I declare early please Sue? 
My pot contained a miserly £11.67 which was pretty much as expected, but savings from sales of stuff on fleabay is £267.09 

Therefore, SPC member # 012  I'm declaring a total of: £278.76

I'm happy with that, it will be enough for our much reduced Christmas festivities again this year

Blimey, good job I just checked back in!!  Had completely forgotten that opening day was *this* month.

We both recovered from Covid although it took a good month for hubby's cough and my fatigue and exhaustion to subside.  We had a lovely week away up in the Yorkshire Dales in a glamping pod - so it was a good job I didn't get rid of all the camping gear as we had to take everything except the tent and electrics.

Been discharged by the hospital after the AFib episode - all my tests were clear so there's no real reason for it, it hasn't persisted and I presume any palpitations now are down to menopause/age rather than anything else sinister.

DH is having a testicle removed on 31st.  He's "too old" for cancer there apparently, but he has history so can't take anything for granted.

Plum is still collecting, and I've got a bit in the actual pot plus some Quidco money to cash.  I opened a Chase savings account thanks to MSE, with a decent AER which has just gone up to a mighty 2.1% so am going to move this year's "pot" into that so that Plum, etc., starts from zero again (presuming there'll be a new challenge).   My £1-a-day challenge (although I rarely take part on their boards now) collecting is going into that account as well while the rate is good but I've only just switched that so will know what's what.  I've had a few good Eb*y sales as well, although some have been used against my own purchases rather than saved tsk tsk

I can’t believe we’re nearly there- declaration day! 

I cancelled a subscription the other day and they’ve actually refunded me this month’s fee. Really wasn’t expecting that, so it’s been added to the pot. 

I’ve also done some other account sweepings as it’s my payday.  

Looking forward to Thursday! 🥳

Hello everyone, I’m still potting the change from my bank accounts, didn’t even dip into it for our wedding😀 yes I got married in Cyprus in September which was fabulous. Sadly though I have been off work due to work stress recently returned and it’s hard going at the moment. When is declaration day? Hope everyone is okay now that life is returning to some form of normality!
