Well I don't pay council tax because Im a single parent on benefits. Yes I get that I'm already 1700 pounds a year "better off" but it does nothing to my energy bill.
I won't see £150 off my bill I will be paying £150 more than the neighbour is paying.
My income hasn't magically risen since last year, and I didn't manage to get the warm homes discount either. It's a bit of a lottery to say the least.
Are you sure you won't get the rebate? There are several lists where you qualify for the rebate even if you don't pay any council tax. It seems it is more about the qualifying tax band than about paying anything.

    2. Will I be eligible for the council tax rebate?

Households are eligible where, on 1 April 2022, they are liable for council tax on a property which is in council tax bands A-D and which they live in as their main home. This includes those who receive Local Council Tax Support, even if their council tax bill for the year is less than £150.

Where the occupants of a property in bands A - D are exempt from council tax on 1 April 2022, they will also be eligible if the property falls in one of the following classes of exemption: Class N (students – other than HMOs for council tax purposes), Class S (under 18s), Class U (people with a severe mental impairment), Class W (annexes occupied by a dependent relative)

and from my local council page

A property that meets all the criteria, but has a no Council Tax liability as a result of local Council Tax support, will be eligible.

You can get the £150 only once.

Gas prices dropped 22% today, their lowest level since 17 September 2021.
I came here to say the same, that gas for May is under 200p/therm and Jun-Oct are under 230p/therm. Even next winter is under 240p.
Let's hope the price continues to soften :)
^ That was the 15th of April.
Closing prices on the 22nd (one week later) had gas for May delivery at 167.5p/therm, 5.7p/kWh. Later months are still over 200p/therm but we might stt them drop away as the year progresses.

Gas prices are down again today, May is now 150p and the few months that follow below 200p, its the best I've seen winter 22 contracts for some time at 228p. Unless something else changes at the minute gas prices are heading in a downward direction.

Hopefully it starts to feed through into some better priced fixed tariffs and has an impact on the Oct cap, although a while to go on that yet.

Also not sure how these contracts work for storage as prices fall, its opportunity for countries with decent storage capacity to start filling them ahead of winter, I believe in Germany they have passed a law on this to ensure capacity is maximised.

    @savers_united

How does this compare to April '21 prices when we still saw the price cap rise in Oct '21 ?

Would be nice to be able to see the trend in 2021 that led to a price cap increase and the current trend in 2022

Cheers for this that answered my previous question.

So this time last year has was approx 48p and now approx 150p

Does the current price cap cover these sorts of costs or does it mean another hefty hike?
