Being a landlords spouse for 25 years no landlords don't want anything to do with tenants utilities.

On the topic of carbon capture (as we were a week or two ago), here's a chart someone made (sorry, I don't know the original author) comparing what looks to be the IEA's WEO forecasts for solar PV to their forecasts for CCS:
Edit to add:
Someone has pointed me to the source, it's from a ProPublica article:

The end of an era, in more ways than one:
BBC Radio 4's long wave service, the UK's last, has been switched off, ending a broadcast tradition dating back to 1934. The final moments featured the Shipping Forecast and the national anthem, echoing decades of nightly sign-offs.
Not just The Archers and Test Match Special on LW, but also RTS has ended after death throes lasting more than 15 years. Some smart meter refuseniks may have woken up to a shock this morning.

The only upside is that it means half a megawatt less 24/7 electricity demand south of the Scottish border.

Oops, sorry, slip of the finger/brain. Will correct! (Although that's transmitted power, so input power will be somewhat higher.)

What evidence is there that the RTS signal has ceased?
AFAIK all that's happened so far is that the audio modulation has been switched from R4/WS to the barker loop.
It remains to be seen what happens after the end of the month.

We see a few posts from people whose system has stopped working due to progressive RTS shutdown. Including some for whom there's an additional problem, how to get things working while still evading payment ..
I’m in an all electric property which is rented from the local clowncil. I have found myself with no hot water or heating so I called the council who class this as an emergency. Their electrician came out and said it’s because the RTS signal has been cut off so I’m looking for help with what I need to do in order to get my heating and hot water back again without having to get a smart meter installed. I do not pay electricity and haven’t done for about 4 years and I’m not about to start now. I will not be controlled by a smart meter either. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

@WiserMiser asked:

You'll have to ask someone with an RTS unit that was operating as usual on Friday. Was it still doing so on Saturday?
I rather though it was the 500W 198kHz transmitter itself that was switched off, before one of its two mammoth valves gave up the ghost. This is the frequency RTS systems listen on, so now they have nothing to act on. What the BBC may have done in anticipation of this is really beside the point. I expect the two repeaters in Scotland stopped transmitting as well.
Nowhere can I find an authoritative text that specifically says that 'the transmitter was switched off at 01:00 GMT on Saturday 27 June 2026' - just lots of hearsay.

I have a neighbour who this applies to, its a pre pay meter, so they just top it up and havent registered themselves as the bill payers. Wouldnt surprise me if they have previous energy debt which they didnt want to carry over. A lot of debtors deal with debt by pretending its not there, which pushes the burden on to someone else.
