Many thanks to all who answered, I feel encouraged that the cap should keep bill more or less the same until next review, I am very suspicious of the fixed rates being offered as the quotes are jumping £10+/month every few days at the moment. Trying to switch would be min £100/month from others in big 6 (which I'm sticking to, currently with Eon Next). To clear a few things up, I'm female
I paid off the small debit I was due before quoting my figures, I keep a very keen eye on my bills after finding a few years ago a company was holding £300 credit. I give readings every month and gave up on smart metre as it wouldn't work (various reasons) I'm rural, broadband etc. My heating is oil so I pay more for that than elec. My use in November was half that of July - I reacted to this price jump by basically freezing during the day while kids at school and turning everything off when not in use (hopefully helps planet too) and teaching teenagers to do same. I can't do any more but holidays coming when costs will rocket again. Being rural and recently changing to petrol (again for planet) has hit me hard, so price of travel has rocketed too, don't get me started on food and feeding teenageers... Any further advice on electricity very welcome.

If the new April cap is as high as feared (or maybe even higher if these prices persist), then surely the Government are going to HAVE to step in and support some households much more than they currently are.
This is going to absolutely cripple some families!!! Especially on top of all the other increases that are due to come in at the same time (CT, NI etc)
I've tried to forewarn mine (Sister, Mum), but they almost literally went "la, la, la not listening" when I tried to explain things.
It's like waiting for a bomb to explode...and only some of us can hear it ticking!!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)2 -

Fairzo said:There's been the occasional mention of VAT being cut but with the prospect of a substantial rise in the cap in April even 5% to zero will only help a little.Someone please tell me what money is1

Although your usage is low, even at a cap of £2000 a year it's £100 annually / £8 month off. Better than nothing but only just.1
