Energy news in general

Leave it where it is and please a lot of people- including the numerous organisations that are backing Martin's call for them to do just that.
Increase the level to the planned £3k
While as a consumer, I would love the EPG to stay the same or come down, its important to recognise that even if the EPG changes from £2,500 goes to £3,000 this won't be as bad as it sounds.
This is because its an 'annual' figure but energy use (especially gas) should fall sharply over the summer meaning actual bills will be lower - even if the EPG unit prices are not.

I still do not want the government to plow more money in that to reduce this down to £3000 for the notional average user.
Eat more cold foods, if you do want hot food cook them efficiently, turn things off on 1st April that you don't need on all the time.
Come July the price cap is forecast to drop to £2230-2450 (depending on the margin for error on predictions)
Very few people die due to having no heating or cold water April-July. The reality is it may only push up the notional average users bills £50-100 for those three months and nothing if they plan now.
Keeping the reduction EPG as it is now is no incentive for households to reduce energy use.2 -
When do we expect the government to announce what it plans to do with the EPG for April-June?

How much will the SC be?
How much will the price per unit be under the EPG?
But it seems this info is deliberately hiddenThat will be for when the EPG is announced next month. The SC is available in the earlier linked table, as that is not subject to the EPG, which is where I got my 51p to 59p from.

Governments leaving important announcements until the last minute creates unnecessary uncertainty and worry for many individuals and businesses. Why on earth are they are not announcing the EPG figure for April-June at the same time as the price cap today?

If you were in control of the Government money machine and could see that energy wholesale prices are falling would you make an announcement now or leave it until as late as possible? Personally, I am not sure that the EPG is required given that everyone’s monthly energy bill will fall from Spring through to Autumn. If the Government has any spare cash then there are other key priorities that need to be funded: not least, the Defence budget.
I'm not convinced that the government is valuing clarity and certainty at all regarding energy prices, and this is having a negative effect on people's ability to understand and have faith in the current system.
It's a shambles.0 -

theres a lot of people who dont get any 'extra' help who are struggling. not just with energy but with everything getting more expensive and with the best will in the world you can only cut so far till you hit bone.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.3
