BREAKING: Gazprom claims it detected an oil leak during "maintenance" at Nord Stream 1, and therefore the gas pipeline is going to remain closed until repairs are made (no timeline provided for any re-start)

"Gazprom says NS1 gas pipeline is NOT coming back due to discovered oil leaks"

So coincidental, Germany announce they are ahead of schedule in filling gas storage for the winter and Russia close down the pipelines....
    I think....

I'm shocked it's not reopening as planned. Shocked I tell you...  :#

Almost as if what I said a day or so ago was going to happen. I don't know why anyone would trust their word when all they needed is an excuse to turn off the taps for good or "indefinitely" as they claim.

Yes I recall putting myself in the "cynical" camp a day or so ago too. Did anyone actually believe it would just be the 3 days?

I'm more genuinely shocked that they bothered trying to come up with a credible excuse at all. Mind you - an oil leak holding up a gas pipeline - I guess that counts as Russian humour...

Russia has finally cut off the gas from Nord Stream to Europe.

The markets from what I can tell as a layman have not reacted to this (yet). Maybe they knew this was the outcome that was always going to play out and it has been priced in.
It has been known about for several days, and you write as if it's a permanent shut down whereas the present understanding is that it will be for three days - for 'maintenance'.

    Aged like a fine wine!
  • Yet, the price continues to fall.

Energy analyst on Radio 4 suggests that the switching off of Nord Stream will result in higher prices across Europe to reduce demand, and thereby avoid blackouts.

He expects 'structurally high' prices over the next year to further dampen demand, in order to build up supplies for the following winter. UK is going to have bid against other countries to avoid 'rationing' (his word). Makes Truss's head-in-the-sand sound all the more dangerously idiotic.

    Cheery start to the weekend.

This is generally the less cheery and realistic post of what's now and the future.

To that end I have stopped following it unless it's first page and skim read.

The statistics get posted, Russia does her thing etc. The only way is up.......baby.....for you and me now.
