Energy news in general

As the Ukrainian first lady points out today on the BBC, the Brits have started counting the pennies (while they're counting the bodies and pennies).
Ironic that this national attention and effort wasn't devoted to reducing carbon effort and climate change but only came about when money was affected?
Clearly, the lower national carbon footprint will have been one positive outcome both from the Covid and the energy crises.
Good news for countries facing the brunt of climate change from powerhogging nations.2 -
Anyone know the affect on bills for reducing your supply.
So I think a UK household has a 9.2kw supply. UK power networks suggest you can reduce this and reduce your bills?
This is more for the very low electricity users in the forum always banging on about the SC.

It's being heavily trailed that Truss will cap energy bills, with the government guaranteeing loans to the energy suppliers which we will then repay over the next decade.
EDIT: Tory MPs on 'Today' not happy, want targeted help.0 -
That’s for customers with a kVA connection who pay a capacity charge and have a maximum import charge.Mstty said:Anyone know the affect on bills for reducing your supply.

In other words, commercial and industrial connections only.1 -
I'm pretty sure that is for commercial customers, who's "standing charge" is determined by their MIC. Domestic customers don't have the same sort of connection contract that states an MIC.Mstty said:Anyone know the affect on bills for reducing your supply.

Cap the "Cap"!!!
The question is, at what level? Current, October, or somewhere in between.
Lets hope that for those who saw what was "supposed" to be coming and fixed, are able to revert to SVT as easy as we think we can, if it's capped at current rates. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)2 -
A very surprising daily cap prediction from Auxilione this morning. It seems the market did not react to the closure of Nord Stream1, and the prices kept tumbling.

Thanks, that's a shame 👍[Deleted User] said:

I suspect some of the energy supply companies will have strong armed the Government by suggesting it's not possible to stay in business without this.GingerTim said:It's being heavily trailed that Truss will cap energy bills, with the government guaranteeing loans to the energy suppliers which we will then repay over the next decade.

But I have had a news flash from the Sky News app that wholesale prices are rising rapidly and the Daily Mail has been running articles for two days that prices are going up 50%. The BBC claims a 22% rise at the time of posting with higher to go.pochase said:A very surprising daily cap prediction from Auxilione this morning. Yet this doesn't tally with data from ICE or the Octopus Tracker wholesale rate for gas.
So do they know something we all don't or have they lied to us?
