Energy news in general

Not sure it's overcooked just using very volatile inputs from essentially the Gas Market. There's probably a case for the solution some of the energy companies want of setting up a fund to support them, but rather than using it to fix prices use it to allow then to hedge supply for the future.tghe-retford said:I'm hoping that Auxilione have realised that they were overcooking their predictions but I fear that is wishful thinking.
At least one tabloid will not be publishing an article on the price cap today. Silver linings and all that.0 -
Daily Auxilione update.
After a slight decrease yesterday the predictions are at a new height. Electricity is at almost 80p for January, with gas over 22p.
April sees £1.05 and almost 30p for gas.
They now calculate the cost for the next 12 month for the "average" 12000/2900 customer at £4910, that includes the "cheap" September and would require a fixed monthly direct debit of £409.

Be interesting come January/April to see which of their daily predictions came closest, in hindsight to the actual, and how long ago.
Are you saving them all in a folder somewhere? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Another pointless prediction from another pointless company...-1

Might be a idea to do so. They have only recently started to do (daily) detailed updates. First on was end of of July.
CI on 02/08/2022 was
Looking at that they either have more luck or the predictions are nearer to expectations for tomorrow and January.0 -
On what basis do you think that?casjen said:Another pointless prediction from another pointless company...0 -

Major energy firms are refusing to supply small businesses out of concern that they could go bust, while some are demanding £10,000 up front, business owners and industry experts have told the Guardian.
So businesses can't get an energy contract because the suppliers think they might not be able to afford the prices of said energy...2 -
Well they should know given so many energy suppliers went bust because they, erm, couldn't afford the prices of said energy either!GingerTim said:https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/aug/25/big-energy-firms-refuse-to-supply-small-uk-businesses-bankruptcy-fears-contracts?utm_term=Autofeed&CMP=twt_gu&utm_medium&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1661426916Major energy firms are refusing to supply small businesses out of concern that they could go bust, while some are demanding £10,000 up front, business owners and industry experts have told the Guardian.

The UK’s last fertiliser plant is to halt production, sparking fears that it could lead to a sudden shortfall in carbon dioxide needed for the food and drink industry.
CF Fertilisers confirmed the move at its remaining UK ammonia plant at Billingham near Middlesbrough after soaring energy costs made production “uneconomical”.
