The PM programme on BBC Radio 4 stated that the Government under a new leader will be asking people to prepare to stop using their gas and electric appliances to prevent blackouts and cut usage. The industry experts on there believe it is consumers who will have to make changes to their lifestyles and that the true scale of the issue is not being taken seriously enough by either the Government or the public.0

Tomorrow, for example, the day-ahead wholesale price of electricity is averaging 54p/kWh (excluding VAT and about 12p/kWh of other charges) but Bulb will be selling it to consumers at 28p/kWh.Archie_Duke said:Times 22/08/20Despite this, The Times revealed in December that the government had opted for Bulb’s administrators to buy most of its wholesale energy at even more short notice because of a Treasury policy against hedging. That has left it exposed to surging wholesale energy prices ever since.

I run a Church Hall with typical users like Toddler groups , Food Bank, choirs and very noticeably post Corvid a big demand for Well Being, MIND and AA. Until now utilities have been 20% of our costs and we aim to break even - next year is likely to be approaching 60%.Northern_Wanderer said:People might get a shock when energy prices rise again. But the other concern is the impact energy prices will have on business and the subsequent increases in prices of goods that will inevitably have to come.....I know price of goods has been increasing, but can't see how businesses can possibly keep prices same with huge energy bills.
