That's ridiculous do you know the costs involved in emigrating?
Flights and whatever we decide to ship. If we get the flights right, £2k and our shipping quotes are about £3k.

Then with the equity we have in our house we can almost live mortgage free back home instead of our current 20 years left. Oh and the weathers much nicer.

Sounds like a good plan A, is energy cheaper back home as well?

Today's update from Auxilione passes the £1 mark for electricity coming April.

Ok so I'm not denying I'm still keeping my head in the sand with regards to the unit costs. But thanks for this as it's interesting to see a typical use spread over a year. We have always used about 1•5 times average. So this is an idea of what to strive for at different times of year to be average. I also have made a note of my crystal ball projections from octopus with a view of being them each month.
    Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

    Mortgage Jan 18- 77224 nov 25- just over 64k

June 25 Debts in my name were £5170. Now 7150 (Nov 25)
  • Beating them each month. Aahh autocorrect...

Electric is $0.35 kWh (about 20p)
Gas is $0.22 kWh (about 12p)

So roughly the same as we pay now. But it’s not forecast to get as silly as it will here over the coming years. Yet…

Auxilione forecast has come down based on yesterdays data.

Somehow this shows you how misleading percentages are. The 40% increase predicted for January is almost the same increase we will be seeing for October in £, it would be an additional increase of over £1400, that is more than the October 2021 cap was.

This should only last 2-3 years at most and will be painful.
Depends on the cost of living. It's working out two costs and seeing which is cheaper.

I'm hoping that Auxilione have realised that they were overcooking their predictions but I fear that is wishful thinking.

At least one tabloid will not be publishing an article on the price cap today. Silver linings and all that.

I've not looked into Auxilione, but if they are updating (week)daily, is it not just the case that their predictions will more directly reflect the volatility of wholesale prices?

They are doing a daily update, and adjusting their projections based on what happens in the market the previous day.

The are also doing a very good market analysis explaining what the changes are based on.

You can think what you want about how good the predictions are, much of it is (educated) guesses, especially, getting worse the further away the date is, but you can see the trend of forecasts going up or down.
