I think that you have rather overstated that. There are millions of Canon printers around the world, all working properly. There'll always be some problems that cannot be resolved, but to say that nobody should ever buy a Canon printer is just a bit wide of the mark I think.
You sound like you are one of the canon tech guys:
canon tech support + thinking = bs0 -

You are incorrect in your assumption. I am neither a Canon tech guy nor have I ever been. Nor do I own a Canon or have any particular allegiance any printer type.
However, over the years I have purchased/rented canon printers/copiers for use where I worked. I have generally found them to be of good specification and they are innovative. This is what I based my comment to you on.0 -

And you have 'ASSUMED' that 'There are millions of Canon printers around the world, all working properly'.
Okay fair enough I'm sure there are many satisfied customers. However based on not only my personal experience but also of others I am sure there is a large percentage of unsatisfied customers out there.
Even a small percentage of defective products is totally unacceptable.0 -
Steve-xx - totally agree, millions of people using cannon printers & you will always get the odd occassions when they cannot resolve your problem.
However it would be nice to hear from any Cannon users of any feedback.
People I know that are using Cannon printers, highly recommend them.
hmm I guess I must have been that one odd in a million/s. I think I might do the lottery on saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

Actually, what I'm trying to say to you is that over the years, in the course of my work, I have bought all manner of printers, ie Xerox, HP, Canon, Brother. OKI, Epson. I can honestly say that no one of the types I've mentioned is especially better or worse than another. However, I will reiterate my view that your absolute condemnation of Canon as a brand is, in my experience, unjustifiable and unreasonable. Though I accept that your own experience with Canon has adversely affected your view of their product.
I am positive that not every Canon customer will be satisfied with their purchase. Similarly I am likewise confident that not every Xerox, HP, Lexmark, Brother. OKI, or Epson customer will have been satisfied with their purchase.0 -
[THE CHEAPEST: Olivetti Simple Way All In One Inkjet £19.99 from Argos
Replacement ink cost: £20/cart.]
Its a crazy world when a replacement cartridge costs more than the original printer/scanner/copier!
So buy two -or more- and bin them as the ink runs out.
The logic behind this mad marketing is that the manufacturer makes a big profit on selling ink, so gives the printer away at cost price to get you hooked on their cartridges.
Same principle as a heroin dealer giving you the first fix free....0 -

I still advise not to buy canon. If you want reliability go for HP.0 -

I would suggest that whichever one you go for you ascertain that it uses 4 cartridges, ie one for black, cyan, magenta and yellow. Many just use one or two and of course if one of the colour runs out first then the whole cartridge becomes useless.0
