I have been looking at Sony 2021 televisions (not too big) maybe one screen size above 32" ? 43".   This one:

Sony Bravia KD32W800 (2021) LED HDR HD Ready 720p Smart Android TV, 32 inch with Freeview Play

is just a little bit too small.

I have heard that some Sony TVs don't have bbc iplayer now although my present older Sony smart TV has bbc iplayer.  (I use a Humax Freeview Box with my present Sony TV and I'm not sure if that makes a difference.)

I was hoping to possibly find a good Sony offer on Black Friday but wonder if the absence of bbc iplayer in 2021 models is going to be a permanent problem.

Any advice would be really helpful to enable me to look in advance of Black Friday,  thanks.

Thanks TimSynths -  I have a Humax Freeview box which I use a lot with my present, older, Sony TV but I have never used a Firestick and don't know much about it.  I can look into it and thanks very much or replying.

If you are going bigger what about full HD instead of just HD ready (it's not a 2021 model) ?

iPlayer is being removed from some OLDER Sony models due to performance issues.  There is no suggestion that it is being removed from newer models or not included in current models.

Samsung have the best app range in my opinion, and also they have extra channels on their Samsung TV plus offering including things like CNN in Hd which has been removed from sky and virgin unless you pay I believe.  This one is a what hifi award winner for this year. If you want to compare an alternative to a Sony.

Sorry  but Samsung have limited apps, compared to Sony  with Android. Just download Iplayer from the app store on Android.
Myself i would also add a firestick.

I'm glad to have all this information and the links, thank you all very much.  I'll take time and will look through all of it in detail.

If there is a suitable 'offer' by Black Friday I'll be interested.  If not I still hope to have a better TV ahead of Christmas. It's  good of you to provide all this information.

Thank you.  I am looking at the Sony Android 43" 2021 model and leaning more towards it.  Although not fully HD it seems to be suitable.  I have never had more than a 'regular' smart TV before so I hope this type is O.K. for me.

I'll arrange to get someone to install for me then it will be an ongoing learning process.  I am eager to learn and any helpful 'tips' in advance would be really good, thanks.
