Been switched from Symbio to Eon next at stupid tariff. As others have said going from 11.4p to over 29p.
No way I want this! Eon says it’s their cheapest tariff and looking online at the moment it’s the only one they offer which is obviously a con to rip off those being transferred!
how soon can I switch, or can I refuse them and pick my own supplier?

@pacemaker1000 can you post evidence that that your new E.ON tariff will be 29p/kWh? Or are you just looking at their offers for switching and making unwarranted assumptions?

🤣🤣 good luck finding anything like 11.4p ever again- the 29p is the going price for electricity these days
  • No it's not, the capped rate is around 21p per unit.
This will not get any higher before April next year, it may even drop if wholesale prices reduce.
The 11p tariff will return when someone discovers a load more gas in the North Sea, or when Putin becomes a nice bloke.  In other words never.

... assuming the supplier charges the maximum allowed for the standing charge, if they reduce that then the per unti figure can go higher, but even with zero standing charge on average across the regions it will still be a little below 24p

  • If you go to Eon webpage and select new customer you only get offered one tariff. Hence their claim that they are putting you on their cheapest one I assume.
unable to create account to see if I can change after becoming a customer but here is the ONLY new deal...

They will not be able to force you onto that tariff. You'll just go onto their default standard variable tariff which is subject to the price cap.

But that isn't the tariff they will put you on, and I don't entirely understand why so many people keep posting here and saying it is.

    Because they're panicking?

Until Eon write to me telling me, I don't really care.

Why worry now, and worry again when it happens?  I may as well just worry when it happens as I know it's coming anyway, so not a shock.

Ex Igloo/Symbio users are being put on E.on Next Flex. There is an article https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2021/09/energy-firm-gone-bust--how-your-new-firm-and-tariff-stacks-up/ which explains how to find out your actual rates using Cheap Energy Club, because CEC has the actual rates region by region.
