MSE News: Igloo Energy, Symbio Energy and Enstroga cease trading

Options

Igloo Energy, Symbio Energy and Enstroga which combined have more than 230,000 customers, have become the latest energy providers to cease trading – making a total of nine suppliers to go bust this month. If you're a customer of these failed firms, your energy supply will continue and credit balances are protected. But DON'T switch now – sit tight and wait until your new supplier has contacted you.

I switched straight away, from PfP, and am now listed by my DNO as being with Green so I'm not with the SoLR, BG. You may escape, you may not. To be honest, it isn't really worth it, because all SoLRs are putting people on more-or-less the cap price and there aren't really any attractive deals at the moment.

Had I known how it was going to work out, I'd have just let things take their course and look around for a deal nearer April when the fix finishes.

Well that's now 5 out of 4 energy companies that were being suggested last week as being in imminent danger of going bust 😢.   About 35 to go.....

    Oh great....
I joined Igloo early June, then switched to Avro mid-July.
Never got a final bill or the readings through to Igloo from Avro (or a bill from Avro at all from July up to this point!), so I have credit stuck in both Igloo AND Avro now. This is despite submitting monthly readings.

Now ofc my Avro account is going to be dealt with by Octopus, but what about my Igloo account, that still needs the final bill + Credit given?
  • I'm one of the many customers who were having problems with Symbio.  My last bill said I owed £56 but they had changed my tariff and were directed to return it to the previous tariff by the ombudsman.  They haven't implemented the ruling as far as I know so now I'm not sure where I stand.

Since 1st July they put me on a higher tariff and the ruling was to return me to the previous tariff backdated to 1st July, they also had to removed charges from my account that they added because I cancelled the DD and pay me £75.  If these were all implemented I would now probably be in a small credit, around £100 , however, if they were not then I am going to owe about £200 .

I had already started a switch and Martin has cleared up what happens about that but does anyone know about the situation regarding the ombudsman's ruling?

The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j

Unfortunately, the ombudsman's ruling is now null and void.
