Sorry if this has been asked already, I have looked.

I didn't cancel my direct debit for Igloo as I saw conflicting advice some places saying cancel, some leave it. However the £120 has been taken out today, so am I right in saying I should be 120+whatever I was already in credit when the Ofgem-determined supplier takes over?

I took meter readings on Wednesday to be sure and once the new supplier comes on, I'll make the switch as usual to Bristol or Bulb if they are still going (can't see that happening though), or a local renewable solar farm that runs off the back of Ecotricity, since it'll be no more expensive (160 a month average).

Your opening bill/statement from the SoLR should include all use and payments since your last Igloo bill. Some will be charged at Igloo's tariff, some at the SoLR's.

I see that they've applied an estimated reading on my igloo account on 1 Oct ( I gave my own reading too - though they were very accurate)
Suggests to me that the new SOLR will bill from 1 Oct , and that charges up to 1 Oct will be at igloo's rates
  • "Once they cease trading they shouldn't take any more payments."

Oddly enough, I received an e-mail from "Igloo" this morning. It informed that my last payment will be taken by DD on 1st October.
Oh no it won't the DD was cancelled yesterday!
I’d check your account, as dd’s are usually applied for a few days early, so it might still have been allocated

I did wonder about that but nothing taken from bank account.

  • I tried to leave Igloo on the 9/9/21. I have an account with OVO and everything but the switch didn't complete when the said it would on 26/9/21. There still haven't taken the 1st direct debit. Does this mean I'm still with Igloo and will be put with someone else?

does anyone know about the situation regarding the ombudsman's ruling?

Unfortunately, the ombudsman's ruling is now null and void.

Well someone can take me to court then.  Symbio changed my tariff against their own T's & C's and I am not paying anything more than for the tariff I was originally on.  I certainly am not paying fees they added for cancelling my DD.  I don't expect to get the apology letter and the £75 payment to cover the hours I've spent calculating my own bills but I won't be held to ransom due to their illegal acts.
The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j
  • my Symbio Elec account is about £1.50 in credit as I got my DD changed last year to variable as appose to fixed that some people have  and made sure I got meter readings in at end of month, whereas my Utility Point gas account is £125 in credit

Great, thanks a lot, that's really useful to know what to expect so I'm not going to the solr with bad info.

I'll keep an eye out for that then as it should include the reading I took this week, the credit and the £120 from today.

When things started to look ugly I switched to Sainsbury's Energy and it completed on 25th Sep.  I've not an insignificant £250 credit with Igloo and thought it would be with me soon enough, then they went bust a few days later!

I'm therefore one of the people who is owed credit but won't be moved to a SOLR, so I'm not expecting a straightforward situation when it comes to receiving my credit, unless I'm being unduly pessimistic?

MSE advised people in mid-Sep to do what I ended up doing (quickly switch to a decent fixed contract) so I can't be alone.

    You are being unduly pessimistic.
All customer accounts, current and former, are handed over to the SoLR.
It will take a while to sort out your refund, but you will get it, probably not until after Christmas though.
