It takes a while for a job to feel good, first days are always hard and weird

  • How is the lodger working out?
I would take whatever work you can if you can hack it and just keep applying for more jobs if you don't like it? £600 is a lot of money to have to pay off the CC it will probably take a few months to do so and if you add more you'll end up re-paying for ages ...I hope you get something offered soon that you enjoy.

This afternoon I am home although I have been this morning to get MD SFD their groceries and stopped there for a little while, this afternoon while the lodger is away I want to do the housework therefore I need a list:-

    1) Wash up last few bits and pieces and dry up and clean sink area.

    2) Change bed linen and put load on.- I will do this tomorrow.

    3) Put washing away.

    4) Clean office desk.

    5) Hoover.

    6) Mop.

    7) Clean bathroom. - Doesn't need doing perhaps every 2 weeks

    8) plan meals and maybe rejig order.

    9) Empty freezer of soups as I am not going to eat them.

    10) Watch tipping point 😁!!

    11) Interview prep.

    12) Job search.

    13) Cook Dinner.

    14) wash up and rest and relax.

Sometime later...I have put forward an application for job seekers allowance and backdated it...it looks like it will be successful if I can attend the first appointment this would help pay off the credit card...good move!

I have an interview coming up and other leads, everything is pointing towards employment, lets hope I nab one of these roles.

The house is clean, the bedding will be done on Sunday now...tomorrow I will recieve shopping early, then I will need to put clothes from the wash away, have brekkie and wash up, leaving the kitchen for the lodger for the day. Also if the shopping arrives early enough I may go to SW, I am now taking mounjaro, so far I am not having any negative reactions except a little acid reflux, My appetite is a little supressed...feeling positive.

    O.A.O.

Hotdog, do you ever use FB market place? Get the books collected rather than the hassle of wrapping and trotting off to the post office? I personally never buy books, I use the library or grab free ones on the shelf in Tesco's. I admire you baking to pass the time. I like cake but as I am suffering from anxiety/major CBA I won't have any or buy any (hoping to loose a stone, Dr's orders). Hope you get a job you like soon
  • Just catching up on everyone. I hope the lodger and you are getting on well... I would think if he is complaining that it's just because everywhere is so expensive to buy these days he probably feels a little jealous. You have the parking space, the bigger room etc and he might not see how that will be possible for him. I wouldn't take it to heart too much
I wanted to do some baking today but aside from doing some housework I have kind of just sat and caught up with diaries and drank tea

Why did you fail at the interview?
I think you need to focus your energy on getting another job and it may not be the ‘dream’ job but a job that pays the bills for now (you can always carry on looking for ‘dream’ job when working
Think you need to forget about having a lodger as by the sounds of it it’s not for you and you like your space to yourself

  • Ah no I am sorry the lodgings didn't work out. I wonder if these type of things work better when you have big spacious houses. I have never done it (never had the room) but my mum's friend used to do it. She had a massive house though big 5 bed place. She and her 3 sons all shared 2 beds and they rented out 3 beds and they all shared the living space. It was really weird when we would visit we would sit in her bedroom rather than the living room if lodgers were home. It paid off her mortgage though after her H had left her....I always wondered what it would be like to share your home with a stranger, I'm not sure I would like it much either. I had my sister and her partner to stay in my first house over 20 years ago and let's just say that didn't work out either, although we lasted 6 months before I said, right YOU OUT! we still talk now though so all good.
I hope you hear something positive on the job front soon.

  • Oh dear Hotdog, do you have any friends from college/school? My daughter lives on her own + wfh but she does pub quiz, pokemon (makes her walk), she's a guide leader and does games evenings at friends homes @ w/ends, All people she has known from school. No gentlemen friends for 3+ years.
Could you volunteer? Why did you stop swimming?
  • Someone I used to work with went to a friendship club. They went on organised walks and trips to see shows etc. She was early 30s at most.  Walking groups may be worth a look?
