Nice and sunny today and we had a nice walk.  Still a bite in the air and the temp has dropped this evening.

We also did a bit of gardening.

Brunch was what I call an American breakfast, we had American pancakes, but this time I added baking powder, even though I use SR flour and they were much fluffier.  We had them with bacon and scrambled eggs and lots of golden syrup.  Dinner tonight was raclette with lots of leftovers, cheese, sausages, leek and cheese sauce, chicken, bread etc.  Was scrummy.  We should use the raclette more often – it made for a fun meal – something a bit different.

Looking forward to the final of Happy Valley tonight – I do hope it has a happy ending!

This morning we got up earlier than uusual and went to B&Q as DH wanted some bits and bobs.  We then went to our local NT property and had coffee and Danish pastries for breakfast.  We then had a walk around the grounds, sun was shining and it wasn't too cold.  Then it was to the supermarket for some basics.

Back home and we had ham rolls for lunch.

Dinner tonight is chicken and bacon suet roll from the Hairy Bikers Every Winners book – so we prepped that and its now in the steamer.  I also made some coconut ice cream and that is now churning in the maker.

Well, third time lucky – we have  now had a smart meter fitted.  The first two times apparently there was no signal and they couldn’t fit it, but now it is fitted.  What a shock to see how much our dehumidifier uses!  It has now been switched off and I think we will only run it for a couple of hours each day.  Where we live, we do need it.  We are frugal with everything else, but we didn’t realise how power hungry that dehumidifier could be.

Breakfast was potato waffles, lunch ham sandwiches and tonight we are having the leftover chicken suet pudding with some bubble and squeak.  I’ll be heating the pudding in the remoska, so will be interested to see how much energy that uses – less than the oven hopefully.

@MrsPorridge - you will be amazed at the difference the Remoska makes compared to the oven!  If you have the standard one it only uses 600w; the Grande uses I think 800w compared to the oven which uses more like 3Kw per hour!

I use my Remoska or halogen oven in preference to the oven.  The oven only goes on if we're having a roast dinner so not even once a week!

The ususal housework tasks done this morning.  My friend called round for tea and gossip in the afternoon.

DH was out this afternoon/early evening.  He is not sure if food is provided or not, so we reversed our meals today.  Breakfast was porridge with berries, lunch was squash tagine and tonight it is ham rolls.

Now I’m settled down to the TV and knitting.

First thing I made some Empire biscuits - I love them so much and we can't buy them in the shops near us.  I froze half the batch of dough so I have some ready when I want to make more.

Trip to Sainsbogs this morning for milk and eggs.  They had a Valentines meal deal – we got a starter of two leek and cheese tarts (which will go in freezer and be paired with chips and veg for a main meal at some stage), mains two steaks, peas, chard leaves and a pudding of chocolate fondant plus a bottle of prosecco.  The prosecco was £10 on its own – the whole deal was £15 so definitely worth it.  We will add oven chips to the steak main.  I am well pleased with that.  We also got a yellow stickered Indian meal – so will have that tomorrow night.

This afternoon a hotel near us is extending and they are showing what that will entail – we are going to be nosy – its in the next village so will not impact us at all.  They do lovely food there, so we may well have a cream tea – who am I kidding?  We will definitely have a cream tea.

Breakast was toast, lunch will be the cream tea and tonight its scotch pies, mash and veggies.

Another trip to the city as we had a cheque to pay in.  Was shocked to find that our nearest branch is now open only 2 days per week!  Anyway, cheque paid in so that’s now sorted.  A nice surprise as it “only” takes 2 days to clear, last time I paid in a cheque it took 7 working days.

I’ve finished knitting my blanket and have now started to crochet a granny square blanket.  I am using up lots of odds and ends of wool.  Its been a few years since I did any crochet and it makes a nice change.

Breakfast was crumpets, lunch tuna sandwich and tonight is squash tagine with cous cous.

  • Just caught up. For some reason, I don't seem to have had the notifications for the last few days.

The meal deal from Mr S sounds like a good bargain.

You're so good making your cream tea your lunch. If that was us, DH would have a right moan about not having a proper lunch first. ...lol

Today will be an NSD.  I really do need to focus a bit more and have more NSD’s.  I feel I have slipped up a bit these last few weeks – lots of trips for tea and cake and the pub.  DH and I also need to lose some weight, so that would help tremendously if we could knock the going out on the head for a few weeks.  Lets see how we get on.

    Jobs done so far today:

    Bed changed

    Washing done and on horses

    Checked  budgets

    Checked meal plan

    Jobs to do:

    Sew brooch on coat

    Hoover upstairs

    Clean kitchen floor

Breakfast was crumpets, lunch avocado salad and tonight we are going posh with salmon en croute.
