  • I love it when I'm trying to just eat from freezer/cupboards...DH moans though. Why do we not have any chips in the freezer? Why are we having rice again? etc etc.  Hey ho, such is life, he'll just have to moan, 'cause I'm on a mission to save money.
Sorbet sounds tasty. Never tried making ice cream or sorbet.

A spendy day yesterday as we went to the pub!

Back on track with an NSD today.

We got up late ad had a brunch of bacon, eggs, mushrooms, sausage and beans.  Then tonight we had some lamb curry with naan bread.

Some washing and hoovering done today and the kitchen cleaned.

Some sunshine today so we went to the local NT property.  Had morning coffee and a nice walk.  I picked up a quilting book and knitting book from the second hand bookshop.  On the back of that we then went to Hobbycraft and I bought some wool – to make a blanket from the new book – I didn’t have enough in my stash.

Picked up a couple of basics from Sainsbogs.

A bit of housework done this afternoon.

Breakfast was muffins, lunch home made sausage rolls and tonight its pasta bake with garlic bread.

Housework done and had a walk round the village this afternoon during a period of sunshine.

Breakfast was beans on toast, lunch tuna salad and tonight its pizza night.

Thanks Making a Bob – Food incl eating out has always been and still is, our biggest expenditure.  A few years ago I started food planning thanks to this site.  Since then its been a lot easier for me to cut down on the food budget.  Its still our biggest expense, but its now more in control.  I usually plan a month in advance, but its not set in stone, so I adapt and change as we go along.  I’ve got a white board in the kitchen on the wall and its great as all the planning goes on there.

Very cold and windy today with sleety rain.

House work done including changing bed, washing and tidying up.  I also spent half an hour (with my morning coffee) in the greenhouse and I’ve planted some swede, carrots and beetroot.

I’ve started knitting a blanket in red with hearts on and we have also started a jigsaw puzzle.

Breakfast was porridge and bananas, lunch the rest of the tuna salad and some panetonne and tea tonight is scampi, oven chips and mushy peas.

Today we met some friends for lunch at a local pub – the pensioner’s special lunch.  Two course for £9.99.  I had chicken and ham pie with mash and veg and apple crumble with cream for pudding.  Because of this we didn’t have any breakfast.

Before meeting up we got some fresh veggies from Lidls and some firewood for our bbq hut.

Tonight we may have some cheese on toast for supper.

Weather loveley and sunny, but cold, but thankfully no wind.

Yes, we are now able to live within our income, mainly thanks to this board and managing to pay our mortgage off.  We both took early retirement.  DH now gets the Govt pension, so that has been a boost to us and our private pensions.

Almost an NSD, but not quite.  We went for a walk and popped into the pub!

Breakfast was porridge, lunch bacon buttie and tea tonight is Coronation turkey, chips and salad.

Lovely weather today, sunshine and no wind.  DH has made me a cold frame for the garden.  I did some gardening – weeding and tidying up.
