A restful kind of day today.  Doing knitting and jigsaw puzzles.

We did go out this afternoon for tea and cake (which I counted as lunch).

Breakfast was toasted muffin and dinner tonight was the last of the Christmas frozen leftovers, bubble and squeak with cold turkey and chutneys.

One MSE thing I did do, was to organise our PBs so we can cash in and add to them online rather than using the phone which is what I have done for the past few years.  I didn’t realise that the phone passwords were the same as online.  So now, all our savings and accounts are accessible online.

For breakfast it was pancakes, lunch will be roast pork and loads of veggies.  We will use the leftovers for bubble and squeak.  I also made two pineapple upside down cakes, one to eat over the next few days and the other for the freezer as there were 8 pineapple rings in the tin.

I made an effort and I've laid the dining room table up (we usually eat at kitchen table) and am using serving bowls etc.. for our lunch.  It makes a nice change and makes it a bit special.

    Very cloudy today.

    A bit of housework done.

Fallen off the MSE wagon the last couple of days.  Yesterday we rode our bikes and stopped off for coffee and tonight we got a Chinese takeaway – which will do us for tomorrow as well.

Weather very cold, but lovely and sunny.  I spent the afternoon sewing with my friend.

Breakfast was toasted muffin lunch pork sandwich and the Chinese tonight.

  • Never hurts to fall off once in a while. At least you realised and have got back on and if the takeaway does 2 days, then its not that bad. Better to fall of the MSE wagon, than to fall off your bike... :D

Went for a walk around our village today.  Very cold, but dry (for once)!

Made 2 loaves of bread – my thinking in these times is if I’m putting the oven on then I’ll use it as much as possible.  Both loaves sliced and one and a half into the freezer.

Breakfast was porridge with banana, lunch was the leftover Chinese with some added noodles and for supper we have just have sardines on toast.

  • This is what I have been doing with the oven filling to capacity. Dh wanted pie & chips the other day and I said not until I had time to bake a coupe of cakes at the same time. Actually ended up batch cooking 2 shepherds pies as well. Will need a bigger oven at this rate...lol.
Hope you enjoyed your sardines. Love them and such a cheap meal. Just a pity I can't get DH to eat them

No NSD today as we are off to the cinema this afternoon to see A Man Called Otto.  I am going to take snacks with us.

This morning I cleaned out the drawers beside my bed and threw a few bits of old underwear away and tidied them all up Marie Kondo style.  I also did the top drawer of my dressing table.  I found an unopened still in its cardboard package face cream and I also found 4 blusher brushes (I don’t wear blusher)!  So a real good sort/clean out.

Breakfast was toasted muffins, lunch cheese and crackers and tonight its sausage pasta bake.

Making a Bob, the sardines were lovely and you are right a really cheap meal.

  • I love Marie Kondo's style of tidying and storing. All our clothes drawers are following her methods. Loved reading her books, but not so keen on her TV series.
Enjoy the film, I've not heard of that one.

Well, if you see A Man Called Otto make sure you take tissues with you.  Both DH and I cried.  When we walked out of the cinema we couldn’t speak to each other as we were very choked.  It’s a very different kind of film – I thought it was going to be a “feel good” film and I guess it was in a way, but was very serious and sad – especially for us older viewers.

We had to go to the post office this morning so combined it with a trip to the café and had toasted teacake for breakfast.  I also took a jigsaw we had completed down to the jigsaw swap at the farm shop and got a cellophane wrapped Mensa puzzle which I’ve put on one side for DS’ Christmas present.

    Hoovering done today.

Breakfast the teacake, lunch home made carrot soup and tonight we had sausage pasta.

I’m halfway through knitting a blanket, red with hearts on.  It’s now keeping me warm at night as I’m knitting it.

  • What a good idea a jigsaw swap is. Wish there was something like that near us. I normally lend mine to my sister and then take them to the charity shop, which is probably where I bought them from in the first place....lol.
Must look that film up, sounds like it might be good.  Have you seen Living with Bill Nighy? I hear that's a good film.

I'm knitting a blanket for my grandson, but doing it in squares as knitting is not my strong point...lol
