Met a friend for coffee this morning. Was nice to have a catch up.
After that DH and I walked down to the village and had a pasty for lunch.
Tonight we are having pot roast beef done in the slow cooker. I’ve never done it before, so fingers crossed it works out OK. Any leftovers will go for sandwiches or be frozen to be reused another time.
Weather very cold, but lovely and sunny today.

NSD yesterday but not today as I needed to get some wool and some veggies.
Breakfast was toasted muffins, lunch beef sandwich made using the leftover pot roast beef and tonight its steak and chips.
Yesterday I made two loaves and did some housework. Today I’ve not done too much. Very cold here and lots of ice and slush around.

So we’ve had a couple of festive lunches the last few days. Now planning on staying home for 4 days and 4 NSDs in a row.
Cold today. We are going to spend the morning in the BBQ hut, having sausage sandwiches for brunch. My friend is coming over this afternoon for a sewing and gossip session. For tea tonight DH is doing some sort of beef sizzle using the last of the leftover beef, some other leftovers and some noodles.
I did buy a new knitting book yesterday, £17.95 reduced to £4.95. It is vintage patterns reworked for a slightly more modern look. I have already seen lots in it I want to knit. To start with I am knitting a hat – using wool from my stash.
A bit of hoover and tidying up to be done a bit later.

It’s a bit warmer here this morning up to 6 degrees so almost tropical – although it doesn’t feel like it. I do think its me though, for the past year or so my internal thermostat has been broken and I’m either freezing cold during the day and boiling hot when I get into bed at night – I have put it down to my age!!! It’s just those swing in temperatures that are such a pain I go up to bed with a hottie and get all dressed up with my dressing gown on with my pj’s and then 10 mins later I am taking everything off and lying on top of the covers.
Anyway, enough of that. Plans for today include more knitting and watching TV. The Christmas film today is Love Actually which I have never seen before.
We are having gammon with our turkey on the Big Day and today I printed off a recipe for Honey Glazed ham from the BBC food site.
Breakfast was a toasted muffin, lunch will be some cheese on toast and tonight we are having chicken curry with rice and Naan bread.

30 years ago today DH and I got engaged. To celebrate we cooked a roast lamb dinner and this evening we’ve had some nice prosecco and chocolates.
Breakfast was toasted muffins, lunch the lamb and we haven’t really had any tea as we had the roast dinner plus mince pies for pudding.

DS arrived home yesterday and is with us until 2nd Jan. I feel now that Christmas can begin! We all went out for breakfast this morning and later on we’re having Spatchcock chicken with cous cous.
Really horrid weather today, very dull and non stop rain so far.
We are planning on watching The Grinch as our Christmas film today and doing not a lot else.
I’ve bought some new glass mugs for mulled wine, lattes etc., which has resulted in a bit of a clear out and I now have some crockery/glasses ready for the charity shop in the new year.
