Glad you had a good time away. It is nice to relax isn't it?  Bubble & squeak.....ooh, not had that for a while, and must admit I had never thought of freezing it. Good idea.
My mantra is "If its leftover then freeze it"!  I've not had a disaster, just make sure it smells OK when defrosted and then cook thoroughly.  I'm not too good at labelling though - one time I defrosted meat pie with what I thought was mash and it turned out to be Eve's pudding!

Weather very overcast, but at least its dry.

    Some jobs done today:

Christmas cards written – cut down yet again from last year – mainly now only send them to neighbours

Some decorations up – lights and trees will be up on Wednesday as I like it all ready for 1st December

    Hoovering done

    Craft room tidied up

Got rid of two excess cushions on our local FB site.

Brunch was sausage and fried egg bap and dinner later will be cous cous topped shepards pie from the Hairy Bikers.  In between perhaps a couple of warmed mince pies – well its almost the season!

Had to pop out this morning to get some milk and a stamp for a Christmas card.

DH finished the wooden tea light holders and I have given them a coat of paint, second coat later then put some felt on the bottom and they are done!  Not bad, as all made from using leftover scraps of plywood, felt and paint.

Breakfast was courgette loaf, lunch was stew and dumplings and later on for supper we’ll have toasted teacakes – made earlier today.

This morning we got the Christmas decorations down from the loft.  Some are up.  We don’t have enough batteries for all the fairy lights – I LOVE my fairy lights!  So will get some tomorrow and then the rest can go up.  Tea light holders are now finished.

We went out to the local café for the Seniors Lunch – I had chicken, mushroom and bacon pie with mash, peas, cauliflower cheese and kale and ice cream sundae plus coffee all for £15.

We didn’t have any breakfast and tonight I think it will just be a piece of toast – I am still full.

This afternoon my friend came round and we had our stitching and gossip afternoon.

All the decorations are now up.  I have some stuff in the car to go to the tip – an old Christmas tree and some other bits and pieces.

This morning was lovely and sunny so we went on the motorbike to St. Ives – its been several years since we went there and I know why!  Was impossible to find somewhere for coffee and cake, mainly bars and surf shops.  But it was nice to walk around in the sunshine.  Only about a 45 minute drive for us.

Breakfast was porridge and lunch was a sausage roll. Tonight we are going to the pub for a 3 course Festive dinner.  We thought it would be nice to mark the start of the festive season.

This afternoon some tidying up done and the kitchen floor mopped.

  • Sounds like a great day. Not been to St Ives for years, but love Cornwall. We went to Portreath last year, loved it.

    Jobs done this morning:

    Washing

    Organise Christmas foodstuffs

    Finalise meal plan for weekend

    Wrap presents

Breakfast was porridge with banana, lunch will be fish, oven chips and peas and for supper we’ll have home made sausage rolls.

The £500 fuel allowance and extra has hit the account so that has been put away and will be used when we next need to fill up the oil tank – hopefully not until June next year at the earliest.

Last night our electric fire cut out – DH has given it a good clean and one of the parts was broken.  It cost £18 to get another one which I get off Amazon it should arrive today.  DH hopefully can then fix it.  I am so lucky that DH is so capable at all those little jobs.

This morning we visited a Christmas fair and had a breakfast out.

I’ve wrapped the final bits and pieces I bought DS for Christmas.  He is the only one we buy for.  Years ago we stopped buying presents for family and friends and it is such a relief.  DS will get money and then I’ve got a stocking which I fill with lots of little knick knacks.

Overcast today and with a very cold, strong wind.  We did have a walk on the beach which was nice and reminded us that we live in a beautiful part of the country.

    A load of washing done.

    Stove top cleaned.

As we had breakfast out we didn’t have lunch, but tea tonight is toad in the hole with some cauliflower cheese (cauliflower given to us by a neighbour).

Every day in December we watch a Christmas film/tv programme.  Yesterday we watched White Christmas, today we will be watching the Midsomer Murders episode A Christmas Haunting.

  • Sounds like the Christmas vibe is already strong with you Mrs P! Love that you're so close to St Ives as well - a fantastic place although these days it does tend towards the rather too touristy side of things. Having said that, when we go, we ARE tourists, so...!
