This morning DH and I pulled the oven out and cleaned behind and underneath it.  We also did the same with the fridge.  It’s a job we’ve been meaning to do for a while.  It doesn’t look any different from the “outside”, but its good to know its all squeaky clean underneath and behind!

We then checked the freezer contents and did a meal plan for the next two weeks.  We are out tomorrow so will get the shopping we need then.

This afternoon my friend called round and we did some sewing and gossiping.

Breakfast was cooked bacon and eggs, lunch was scones (with my friend) and tea tonight is leek pancakes with sausages.

Yes, I use the Jamie Oliver recipe for the American style ones:  I use a teacup as a measure and put in 1 cup of SR flour, then 1 cup of milk, then an egg and whisk together.  That makes about 9 small ones, 4 for me and 5 for DH.  It doesn't matter what size of mug or cup as long as you use the same measure.

  • Ooh thanks, I'll try that. Was wanting something different to make for OH's birthday breakfast next month.

This morning we had breakfast out then went and did our food shopping.  On the way home I stopped off and had my Covid booster.  So far I feel fine, not even a sore arm which I was expecting.

Not much done this afternoon, mainly sitting watching TV  and knitting.

Tea tonight is toad in the hole with veggies.

Didn’t have a good night’s sleep for some reason – am starting to flag a bit now.

Woke to a lovely sunny day and so got a load of washing done and on the line, isn’t quite dry but almost so its now airing on horses.

I made a large sausage plait thing, half in the freezer, the other half spilt and we had some for lunch with home made potato salad with chives from the garden, the other half we’ll have for lunch tomorrow.

Breakfast was porridge and stewed apple, tea tonight was veggie stiry fry with prawn crackers and noodles, which we had with green tea.

Did quite a bit of sewing too.

Had a walk around the village with DH – we left our money at home so weren’t tempted to spend.

  • Sounds like a good day. You were lucky with the weather. We have had rain most of the day. Lunch & dinner sounds yummy

Had a much better sleep last night, probably because I was so tired.

Breakfast was toasted crumpets, lunch the rest of the sausage plait with the potato salad and dinner tonight is Stracci Primavera from Jamie Oliver’s One Pan cookbook.

We have a little bbq hut in the garden, so this morning we went in and DH cooked chestnuts for our elevenses, we kind of lost track of time – we listen to audio books in there and I was knitting and it was so nice with the fire going that the next thing we realised it was lunchtime, so we ate our lunch in there as well.

I’ve also made some Paul Hollywood teacakes for breakfasts and they have been frozen.  The pasta has been made for tonight and is resting – in 30 mins or so I’ll get the pasta machine (or mangle as DH calls it) out and pass it through that then leave on my drying rack until later on today.

Today we went to the shops and I got a few bits and bobs for Christmas, mulled wine and some tubs of sweets etc.

Also, a bit of gardening done.  Lots of knitting done this afternoon and watched a film called Last Orders – it was enjoyable.

Breakfast was bacon and egg buttie and a late lunch/early dinner of spinach and lentil pie (from the Hairy Bikers) served with mash and green beans.  We’ll have some nice snacks and a glass of wine later while watching the last episode of Bloodlands.
