Today I met up with 2 friends that I hadn’t seen for almost 3 years.  We had a great catch up over lunch.

Breakfast was toast, lunch at the café with friends was avocardo and fried egg on toast and tonight its home made fish pie.

My online shop arrived, all packed away properly by DH.  I was able to buy the few bits that were unavailable when I went out.

Also received our £66 rebate from OVO Energy.  I have put this away in the “leccy” pot.  This reminds me that I must change our DD as I had thought initially that we would get the £66 deducted off the bill (which I think I would have preferred).

Breakfast was crumpets, lunch egg mayo open sandwiches and tonight we are out at our friends for dinner.  They live a few doors away so just a short stroll.  I am bringing the pudding – I remembered to take it out of the freezer yesterday, its one of the apple pie with crumble toppings I made from the apples we got from DH’s friend.

Talking about apples, DH came back at lunchtime today with yet another bag load and apparently there are more on the tree with our name on them.  So we set to and DH peeled, chopped and cored and I made sponge topping and we now have two Eve’s puddings.  They will go in the freezer.  We also stewed some apple and there are still 6 big ones left which we will eat during the week as baked apples with yoghurt.

Also done a washing load and its line drying now.  I also made a batch of scones which again have gone in the freezer.  So a productive day.

This morning DH mowed the lawn and I had a good tidy up.  We then had Sunday lunch out with friends which made a nice change.  This afternoon just lazing about.

After a weekend of socialising we now face a week of attempting as many NSDs as possible.

Last night the hoover stopped working.  After testing bits and bobs with a meter DH thinks that the battery charger is at fault.  He phoned Dyson this morning (its still within warranty), only to be told that they will send a courier on Wednesday for the machine as the battery ill need replacing. DH said several times that he thought it was the battery charger and could they please just send that unit.  No dice, they are determined that it’s the battery so the hoover will need to be sent away for a replacement.  DH says that at least it will have a new battery within warranty.  So we will see if it does work when it comes back.  We do have an old hoover in the garage which DH will try to get up and running so we can use that in the meantime.  It’s a real nuisance, but on the plus side we don’t have any visitors due for a few weeks, so I’ll just have to live with dirty floors for a week or so.

Checked my OVO account today and apparently I don’t need to change my DD to £165 it can stay at £100 – well actually it is now recommending that I change it to £90, but I will leave at £100.  I don’t understand how one month they are forecasting doom and gloom on my account and saying if I don’t change DD by a significant amount then I will be in all kinds of trouble in 12 months and then today it is all sunny.  What is going on with the utilities?  It really does make me wonder.

Lovely and sunny today but a definite autumnal bite.  We went out on our bikes this morning and had a cycle around the village, made a nice change from walking.

    Jobs today:

DH has finally put the draught stop up on the front door – only taken him 6 months, but at least it should make a difference for the winter.

Sort out RAC paperwork and check if any of it can be thrown out – same with house insurance, car insurance documents etc.  Done and all unnecessary/out of date paperwork now burnt.

    Sewing

    Reading

Breakfast was porridge with stewed apple and lunch was open salmon sandwiches.  Tea tonight is home made pasta with carbonara sauce and use up the rest of the cooked ham.

Quizzie Monday tonight so I shall watch Mastermind and Only Connect.

Well, I take my hat off to Dyson!  We weren’t sure what to expect but the DPD guy turned up to collect the Dyson but he had with him a brand new one for us – and it’s the next model up.  Couldn’t believe it – no quibble. So the old broken one has been returned and the brand new one is now charging.

Breakfast was porridge with stewed apple, late lunch of Spatchcock chicken with couscous.  Tonight later on for supper we’ll have some chicken sandwiches and crisps.

Its been very dull today and has now just started spitting.

We finalised a bit more of our holiday plans for next year.

Did some weeding and planted some bulbs which I bought yesterday.

Had a lazy afternoon watching  film.

Tomorrow we’ll be starting our clean of the house – one room at a time.

  • Sounds like a very successful outcome to the Dyson saga and a good day all round.

Had to go out today to get some sewing supplies.  Whilst out we dropped off some stuff at the dump, some books at the charity shop and went to the local NT property and had a short walk and coffee and teacake (for lunch).

Bathroom floor and skirtings cleaned and understairs cupboard decluttered and tidied up.

Breakfast was crumpets, lunch teacake and tea was the leftover chicken put with a butter chicken spice kit and rice.

Weather a bit mixed today, but managed to get some gardening done.  Also, had a walk around the village.  Did some sewing on the machine too.  Some hand sewing to be getting on with this afternoon and tonight while I watch TV or listen to an audio book.

Breakfast was American style pancakes with yoghurt and berries and banana.  Lunch was home made pea soup with bread.  Tonight we are having scampi and oven chips with veggies.
