    NSD 4/10

I need to try and get a grip.  I’m falling into bad habits with eating out – not meals – but snacks.  Also, need to try and be a bit healthier with food.

Today I made sausage pasta bake – one portion for tea tomorrow, the other for the freezer.

Also did a load of washing.

DH has been mending the greenhouse door, so we popped out to B&Q as he needed some hinges etc., and went to the garden centre where we had tea and cake.

Breakfast was muffins with jam, lunch was the tea and cake and dinner tonight was toad in the hole.

Today I met a friend for coffee and we had a good catch up.

Went to the Co Op and got a few bits and pieces.

This afternoon I sorted my knitting out as the pattern had gone wrong, but its all sorted now.

Breakfast was toasted muffin, a late lunch of fish pie.  Tonight we’ll have snacks of crips and houmous.

Getting ready for my Observant October – thank you EH!

    NSD 1

Weatherwise its sunshine and showers today.

I haven’t done very much, just some sewing and a bit of knitting.  Also hoovered downstairs and up.

We had a walk around the village – I didn’t take any money with me, nor did DH, so we couldn’t be tempted to buy coffees.

Breakfast was toasted teacake, lunch sausage rolls and some houmas tonight its pizza night and I might add a few curly fries to it

The greenhouse door is drying in the kitchen – then just another coat of rust proof paint and it can go up hopefully tomorrow.  Having said that, DH isn’t feeling too well a bit fluey – he had his autumn covid booster the other day and today his flu jab so I think he’s feeling a bit sorry for himself.  Once the door is moved in an hour or so I’ll make us a nice teapot of tea and we’ll have a courgette muffin with that.

Well I have got the lurgy.  I did a test and it was negative, so I’m thinking it’s a really bad cold verging on flu.  So achey.  Yesterday was a write off as was this morning.  I’m semi dressed – still wearing my pj bottoms.  Dosing myself with honey and lemon and hot water bottles.  I do feel a bit better now I am up and about, but I haven’t done much!  I am hoping that by tomorrow I will be even better.  I am blaming DH as he had a cold, but it was over in a couple of days.

The plus side to it is that yesterday and today are NSDs.

Breakfast was cereal with banana, lunch home made sausage roll and tonight its spag bol.  I am so thankful that I do batch cooking and its so easy to get something out of the freezer for DH to sort out.

Feeling so much better today - not quite there yet though!  We had to pop out for some supplies and then had breakfast at the cafe - which means that will do as our lunch as well.  Tea tonight is fishcakes and veggies.

Some washing done.  Really need to change the bedding, so will do that this afternoon.

If you fancy llama/alpaca trekking I can recommend  these  people. I have a lovely photo from a few years back of my son with Cuba the llama who is mentioned in the reviews. I don't know where you are so it may be too far but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Just come across your diary and have subscribed so I can wish you well and cheer you on. I also took early retirement after lockdown and only have my private pension....not very big, until next July when I will get state pension. Luckily OH still works as is younger than me. But we have debt & mortgage, & hardly any savings, so I know how hard it all is. I am cheering you on and hope you do well. Hope you are feeling a bit better, I had the dreaded lurgy last week as well, but feeling 99% better now.  My tips....for what they are worth, would be stop eating at the cafe & meal plan. It is the one thing that has helped me no end. We only eat at a cafe when on holiday...so once a year and every few months when I meet an old friend and we have 1 coffee & tea cake....the amount we were spending at cafes in the past was ridiculous.  Hope all goes well for you

Cranky and MakingaBob - thanks so much for stopping by and your input.

I am way down west in Cornwall, so I think the llama people you mention are a bit too far away - but will bear it in mind, so thank you.

I agree that meal planning is the way to go MakingaBob.  I do meal plan, but those pesky "teas and wads" as my Dad used to call them are definitely my Achilles' heel!

A lovely day weather wise which meant I was able to do a washing load and get it line dried.  Also did a bit of tidying up in the veggie bed.

I did an online shop which will be delivered tomorrow.  I am going out tomorrow, but decided that to do it online would remove any temptation in the shop.
