Still very drizzly weather, but quite warm.

Mostly did some more dressmaking today.

Breakfast was porridge, lunch sandwiches and we were a bit naughty tonight and went out to a local Chinese for an all you can eat buffet :)

Today I finished sewing my dress.  I had enough material left over and was able to make a little unlined long sleeved jacket without a lining.  They look nice together.

Weather much better today, although a bit windy, but no rain and a fair bit of sun.

DH spent most of the time doing up one of his older bikes which he is showing at the vintage rally in the village Sunday week.

A bit of housework done and some washing done and line dried.

I also tidied up my desk and filed away some paperwork – a job I’ve been meaning to do for a few weeks now.

Breakfast was porridge, lunch tuna salad and tea tonight was a Bbq – burgers and curly fries.

DH put some oil in our two garden candles, so we will go out shortly and light them up!

We have some friends coming round for a bbq later on this evening.  I made the bread rolls and froze them earlier in the week, so not a lot to do.  Just need to run the hoover around, clean the bathroom and kitchen and have a bit of a tidy up in the garden.

Breakfast was toast, lunch tuna salad and dinner tonight the bbq with sausages, burgers, rolls and salad.  Plus drinks J

Weather very cloudy, but hopefully the sun will break through – most importantly though no rain is forecast and its not too windy.

    Some jobs done today:

    Stuff taken to the dump

Books dropped off at the second hand bookshop

    Coffee at the local NT

Over the weekend we planned some of our trips for next year – we are going to do the Isle of Wight on the new motorbike in May.  Accommodation booked – our first time using an Air BNB – it looks nice, just a small “cabin” type, but as there is only two of us and we will be spending most of our time out and about it will be just perfect.

We belong to the NT but not to English Heritage.  There are quite a few places on the IOW that we would want to visit that are EH.  When I checked, if we join before the end of August then we save 25%.  So, when I added up how much the IOW EH places are we want to visit it came to £95, cost for us to join was a smidge over £77, so a no brainer.  We have now joined.  You had to pay on annual DD, so in 10 months time we will see if we want to rejoin – I guess it depends what we are doing the year after next.  We don’t like that close to EH places, hence the reason for us not joining before.

We still have our week’s trip to Torquay for the literary festival we attend every year in September.  I am so looking forward to that.  The money is set to one side, and it feels good to be organised for once.

Breakfast was porridge, lunch soup and dinner tonight is bolognaise sauce wrapped in oatcakes with cheese scattered on top and we will have some courgette on the side.  I still have lots of courgettes growing in the garden, despite handing some our to neighbours.

I was a bit wary of Airbnb at first but use it a lot now and have found some really nice places from there - it's almost the standard now for booking somewhere to stay for the big airshow we visit in July as you can usually get somewhere pretty close and it's nicer having a "house" than a hotel for a few days like that.

Well, it was my birthday yesterday.  I had a lovely day - although spendy of course.

Starting to get back on track today.  Breakfast was banana muffins, lunch tuna salad and dinner tonight fish with ovn chips and peas.

Went for coffee and toasted teacake for breakfast at the village café.  Such a lovely sunny day again.

    Washing done and line drying.

Bolognaise sauce made, using carrots from the garden.  Spaghetti also cooked.  One portion for tomorrow and the rest will be frozen and then it’s an instant ready meal.

Lunch potato farl with Swiss chard (from the garden) and poached eggs and hollandaise sauce

Pizza for dinner tonight, cooked on the pizza stone on the bbq and eaten outside.

Greenhouse tidied up and veg patch dug.

Did a very silly thing and compared our electric bill – last month it was £102 and in December it was £32!  It makes me realise just how much it has gone up.  And, of course, due to rocket again in October.  One good thing is that we are £150 in credit and we can afford to pay more if we need to, so we are in a much more fortunate position than others.  Still continuing to turn off at the wall socket whenever we can.  Am now going to turn the oven off when not in use which I haven’t done before.  In fact, I think the only plug socket left on permanently will be the internet!

A busy couple of days.  Yesterday was the classic car and bike rally in our village.  DH entered a bike.  Some friends came over and we had coffee with them and looked at the vehicles.

Today we went out to a local English Heritage property.  Was an enjoyable time and the weather was fantastic.  This afternoon we joined some friends for tea and cake.

Breakfast was croissant, lunch sandwiches and crisps at the EH property and for tea tonight was spaghetti bolognaise with home made garlic bread.

Aiming for a couple of NSDs over the next two days.

A productive day today.  A friend of DH’s gave him a load (and I mean a load) of cooking apples.  We had tow the other night as baked apples.  This morning DH cored and peeled them and I made an apple pie and the rest we stewed and have put in the freezer.  I thought the stewed apple would be nice with porridge for breakfasts.

I also baked a batch of courgette muffins (using yet more courgettes from the garden).

Bed changed, bedding washed and line dried.

    Garden tied up.

I spent the afternoon with my friend, sewing and knitting and catching up on gossip.

Breakfast was courgette loaf, sliced and toasted and buttered, lunch was open tuna sandwiches and tonight we had bolognaise sauce wrapped in oatcakes and cooked with cheese on top.
