Had toast for breakfast then took a packed lunch (sausage sandwiches) to the local NT property.  Had that as a picnic then had a cream tea.  Tonight we are being a bit naughty and having Mexican takeaway which we will eat in the garden.  It’s too hot to cook is my excuse J

Some Budgeting done today – I’ve upped the monthly petrol budget L

Breakfast was teacake at the local café, lunch pasty and dinner tonight is stir fry veggies.

Desperately need to do some housework, but DH is painting the front door so there is a lot of dust around from the sanding down, plus once its painted he has to leave it open for hours to dry.  So that’s my excuse for leaving the housework till next week when he’s finished.

DS is coming down first weekend of August with 17 of his mates, to be fair, some are staying in an air bnb in the village, but I think most will be here.  Spare bedrooms need to be made ready which won’t take long.  DH will also put up a large tent in the garden.  Cakes will be made to sweeten and forewarn the neighbours!  They usually come down the frist weekend in August, but because of you know what they haven’t been for two years.  Normally its “only” 12 who come J

DH and I have booked to go away for a couple of nights, he will have his new bike by then, so will be a good excuse to use it.  We are going to Devon so only a couple of hours away.  I have booked our b&b accommodation in a pub which we have been to before.  I am looking forward to it – and to seeing all the 17 friends as well!

Woke early with the heat.  Did a load of washing which is now line drying.  DH has painted the front and back doors so we have a lovely breeze blowing through the house.

Breakfast was toast, late lunch/early tea will be bbq’d meat, grilled courgettes (which are marinating in some olive oil and herbs) and bread rolls

I “splashed out” on a kids paddling pool earlier in the week and I think I’ll be dipping my feet in it a bit later.

Hoovering done first thing – well the downstairs anyway.  Once the hoover has recharged I’ll do upstairs.

We are off tomorrow morning for a night away in Devon.  I am looking forward to it, we are going to the theatre (which thank goodness has air con).  Going in the car and stopping in a B&B.

We are taking the cool box which works off the car.  Taking water with us and  I will also take my flask of coffee.  For breakfast we will have some home made banana breakfast muffins and lunch will be corned beef sandwiches.  We have booked a table at a pub for our dinner tomorrow night.  We will get a cooked breakfast in the morning and then have sausage pasta when we get home on Wednesday (I will take the sausage pasta out of the freezer first thing tomorrow before we go).  I am really going to attempt to be organised with packed lunch and breakfast type meals now we are using B&Bs.

Breakfast was cereals, lunch corned beef sandwiches and tea tonight is fish cakes, oven chips and baked beans.

Very hot here, although there is a breeze but it’s a warm breeze.  Spending time sitting on the patio which is in the shade till about 4 pm this afternoon.

We had a lovely couple of days away and for the first time ever I stuck to a budget!

On the way home I called in at a lovely farm shop and bought some bread flour and other bits and pieces.

Breakfast this morning was a fry up at the B&B, early tea of the sausage pasta which I took out the freezer yesterday morning with some salad.

We met some friends for breakfast this morning.  This afternoon we did some shopping for basics.

DH is excited as tomorrow we go and pick his new bike up!

Breakfast was out, and as we had cooked we skipped lunch and had the rest of the sausage pasta for tea.

    Weather much cooler this evening.

    Haha AC!!!

Well we have picked up the new motorbike.  I must say it’s a lovely smooth ride – better than the old one.

A nice surprise in the post – our water bill direct debit has gone down from £57 to £35.50.  We have the highest water rates in the country I believe.  I am so pleased it has gone down.  The main reason I think is that I have given up my thrice weekly bath in favour of the shower – and that was to conserve our oil (we are not on mains gas so have an oil tank).  I didn’t realise that the knock on effect would be so great on the water bill.  In future I will only have the occasional bath now and will stick to the shower.

Breakfast was cereal, lunch tuna sandwiches and tonight its Scampi bites (never tried them before), with salad.  I have also made a potato salad using some spuds the next door neighbour dropped round last night, some onions and chives from our garden and I used natural low fat yoggie in place of mayo.

Breakfast was croissant, lunch soup and dinner later is pizza with the rest of the salad bits to use up.

Had a ride out on the new bike this morning – it is more comfortable than the old one.

Banking is done and final budgets now sorted.

Took the hem up on my jeans.

The weather has slightly turned today – it’s a sign that the schools have broken up and the holiday makers will be down – windy and a bit drizzly and overcast.  Fingers crossed it will fine away later on.  If it does we may go to the local for a drink.

DH painted both the front and back doors – they are now completed – we have had to have the doors open till later on tonight.  That means that tomorrow I can at least do the dusting and hoovering as there should be no more mess.

He has also painted the garden furniture.

I did some baking, rolls, muffins and cakes.

Tidied up the sitting room and dining rooms.

    Did some gardening

Breakfast was toast, lunch soup and tonight its bangers and mash with courgettes from the garden.
