Surely in the event of them not paying out,  if paid by dd then the bank has to refund.
No, the DD guarantee only covers erroneous payments and those payments were made correctly at the time.

Are we to think that Ofgem are investigating who should pay these balances without being asked by Octopus?

I find Octopus's assertion that Ofgem would forbid them from reimbursing customers somewhat bizarre.
It makes no sense. I was in mid switch to Avro but the DDs I made to Avro after they went bust have been credited to my account. So why isn't everybody who was in the process of switching in the same position as me?

I could imagine Ofgem insisting that those payments be refunded by the administrators rather than via the SoLR levy.
Which appears to be the first time this has been questioned. I'm not aware of anyone before saying they were in the process of joining a failed supplier and that they failed to receive the full balance from the gaining provider.

What date did you make the payment and what date did your switch complete?

Sep, Oct, Nov 21. The switch never completed as Avro went bust before it could happen.

The September payment definitely went out before they ceased trading?

    I don't think so. First dd 27/9.
Just to clarify, they have been credited to my Octopus account.

Ah that explains it. Payments made to Avro after they ceased trading are not being challenged.

Ah, I see. However it is ridiculous that seven months after Avro went bust that some customers are still be strung along.

If this situation is in the hands of lawyers now, it could be many months yet before it is resolved.
