Tesco online deliveries - the good and the bad

After clicking and collecting for a 18 covid months without issue we had to book a delivery slot for today as we were away this weekend. Booked the late slot 21:00 to 22:00, credit card deducted at lunchtime, email followed but as of now no delivery, no phone call, no more emails.
The app says the order is not delivered yet the website says it's been delivered......and their phone line closed at 22:00.
Not impressed......0 -

I know this is an old thread but this is relevant to the original subject of the thread. I've never had an email updating me on what is coming but now, when I go to the order and "view items" it shows the position at the time of viewing. On Sunday lots of things were missing - 8 or 10. On Monday it was down to two. Yesterday only one and when the order came today everything was there. I didn't run the risk of things being removed as I was just viewing and was able to choose when I amended the order so things didn't get removed which would become available before the order came.
It worked as well as an email would have.
I hope this makes sense and I haven't been too confusing.3 -

Still very annoying though that once an item is showing as out of stock you can't add to the order in any way, or remove anything, without having that item disappear - and the substitute. Even though you know that it's highly likely to be back in stock (milk, for example, on the day of delivery.0 -

SPnomore said:Anyone else finding Tesco are substituting items even without the "allow substitutes" ticked, in recent months. Not for everything but just some items. To be clear I don't have "allow substitutes for everything" AND don't have "allow substitutes" for the specific item. I thought it was a one off but has been the last 3 or 4 orders now. I know I can reject them and TBH I haven't really minded (yet) but just confused why they do it for some items and not others and why are they doing it when I haven't told them to. Also like others, I would prefer an email or website update rather than the printout.1

Hi,
I had a recent delivery of groceries, but their system was not working so had no receipt and the driver could not take short dated items back also a few items were missing etc… a few hours later I had an email to say the delivery had been cancelled?Has this happened to others?
I was going to give them a call in a few days if it doesn’t appear on my statement.
Thanks,0 -

Thanks, interesting it happens to others too. Seems odd. In my limited experience they are substituting with something cheaper (obviously charging less) but if it costs more (that they have to cover) they only substitute if the box is ticked?
Not once have I received a substitute for any item which I haven't ticked. Husband is very particular about his beersHowever, I have noticed recently there are more 'short dated' items which are not highlighted. On the odd occasion I've complained, they have instantly refunded. Overall, I'm very happy with the service.

I finally have the email receipts in my area, yay! I don't know if it's now everywhere, as the email I was sent just said that they'd be trialling it and would now be removing paper notes - but I've only had paper notes until now.
One little annoyance I've noticed is that if items in your basket change price, they don't let you know. I know you're charged the price on the day, so the basket price is just a guide, but it's still annoying seeing your basket total go up the day before delivery and having to look through to see what's changed this week.

Beware of the new email receipts as they do discounts in a weird way & even stranger if using Clubcard voucher by taking pences off each item.
One item I actually bought two of only showed up as one (catchweight fish) on bill, as I added up the bill & it did not tally but once I added in the 2nd fish it did.
Also, have had to hand back items at Click n collect and twice not refunded. Had to ring up Customer services to complain.
Had loose items put in the paper bags which even if the slightest bit damp tear so easily and have spilt and gone all over the collection point car parking area. At least the plastic bags can be used as bin liners!2
