Tesco online deliveries - the good and the bad
Comments

The bad, for the last few hours, is that the website and the app are both completely down!3

I definitely agree with that. There have been times when i think twice about updating my order in case something gets removed that if I left it, would be back by the time the order was picked. There are some things you know from experience come and go a lot. I have to decide which is most important, the update or the order as it stands.Flat_Eric said:I find it frustrating that when updating your order, items get removed as "not available" yet on the day of delivery they are back in stock and available (so no doubt would be included in your order if their website hadn't automatically removed them for you). I wish they would just give you a warning to say, this item may not be in stock on your day of delivery giving you the option to pick something else if you wanted.2 -
Exactly the same here. This is one of the most annoying features.GaleSF63 said:

Website and app still down nationally by the way - at least 13 hours now.1 -
Hopefully Tesco can still see the current orders that were due today!Doc_N said:

Website still down, we have an order being delivered at 10am this morning but by all accounts we are one of the lucky ones as we amended it before the website went down. Lots of complaints on twitter. I feel a bit sorry for the delivery drivers today when they turn up with items people dont want or with only a-few items, as lots of people amend their orders the day before but bung anything in their basket just to keep the delivery slot when they first book itDoc_N said:The bad, for the last few hours, is that the website and the app are both completely down!1 -
Quite. And still down now, after more than 24 hours. For a company the size of Tesco this is pretty incredible to have the website down completely for more than a day. I'm now thinking this must be something like a major breach of personal data, or maybe even a blackmail attempt if the site's been hijacked. What staggers me is that a company the size of Tesco doesn't have a functional backup plan.kippers said:

Twitter's full of complaints, as you say, and quite a few people will have no food, and no means of getting it. This one's much less serious, but amusing:
"As much as I'm looking forward to receiving my 5 bottles of (place holder) cava at 10am tomorrow, I would like to be able to have some food to help clear the hangover ready for work on Monday."

I learnt my lesson a few years ago when the Waitrose website wasn't as reliable as it is now and I was unable to amend my order a few times if I left it late. I still amend orders near the deadline but I do my main amendment if necessary about 2 days before delivery so if I miss the deadline for any reason I'm still getting things I can use.
Best thing really is to make any order something you can live with and include the basics.

As far as people going without food is concerned, so far there hasn't been any suggestion that orders already made won't be fulfilled. And with 5 bottles of Cava would someone even notice they haven't eaten?

According to the Daily Mirror, Tesco website/app down due to "hackers trying to interfere with the website": https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/breaking-tesco-outage-due-hackers-25286967
