should i cancel the igloo ddm?
That's the first thing I did, DD cancelled.
It's ok to do that, sit tight and wait for who will take on your account. They will set up there own DD with you when the time comes.
if you cancel the DD won't it take longer to pay you the credit? I only say this as surely if you cancel there will be no bank details to send your refund? Maybe they would send you a cheque? Forgive me if i have it wrong.. i am just in a similar position & haven't cancelled my DD ...
  • I have cancelled my direct debit with Igloo as I was £168 in credit.
  • I'll wait until my switch away from them is complete (mid Oct) before cancelling. My bill isn't due til after then anyway.

I requested a partial refund of my credit from Igloo just over a week ago and when it was confirmed I started the switch to Sainsburys on 20 September just before they increased their prices.  Yesterday I received an update from Sainsburys that the move had been approved and they expected me to be with them from 7 October.  At 1.59am this morning I received an email from Igloo confirming the switich and saying: "In the next week or so, your new supplier will ask you for a meter reading which will be shared with us so that we can send you a closing statement and settle your account. In the meantime, please don’t make any changes to your direct debit with us, as this may delay the process. Please be aware you should never be billed for the same energy twice."
Since then Igloo have ceased trading and I got an email from them about my cancelled DD, which they had cancelled, not me.
I took screenshots last night of my Igloo account, where I was still £118 in credit.  My average bills over the past few months has been just over £60 so there is more than enough to pay any final bill.
I am confused what happens in the time between now and my Sainsburys switch do they move me to the SOLR for those few days?  Also, what will my tariff be as Igloo said if you start a switch before the end of October the existing prices would be paid.
I took meter readings tonight just in case needed, but Sainsburys say they will ask me for meter readings next week to send to Igloo, but who will sainsburys now send these to?
I am sure after paying my final bill there will be some credit on my account, who will pay this to me and as my DD was cancelled how will they pay me?

Just assume that whoever Ofgem appoint as the SoLR will be the one that is dealing with all of this instead of Igloo.
The only real change is that you may end up paying a little more for your last few days with Igloo as the tariff will probably change now, but that is a small price to pay if the switch goes ahead.

If Igloo has cancelled my DD how will the SoLR pay me any refund or will Igloo pass my bank details onto the SoLR?

If Igloo still have your bank details then yes, they will pass them on, if not, at some point the new supplier will ask you for them, or will just mail you a cheque.

    Hi
Igloo have sent me an email asking for meter readings, should I give these readings to them ?

I have a D/Debit set up should I cancel this D/D or would that cause a problem ?

As there in administration can they take payments still ?

Under special arrangements, a supplier continues to trade until a SoLR is appointed. It then immediately goes into administration and its Supply Licence is revoked. Any payments you make to Igloo will be added to your account and transferred across to the SoLR. Any live DD mandate will also pass across to the SoLR. There is no harm in giving Igloo meter readings. The SoLR will also ask you for meter readings.
