If you initiate a switch directly with a new supplier it should go through.

I have family members with igloo.
They have decided to ride it out, as there aren't any better options on the market at the moment.
Will make it quicker (hopefully) to get their credit back and they will at least know they aren't paying more than the cap during this winter, when usage is highest.
What happens next spring happens...

I've just had an email from them saying they are increasing my DD by £16 per month, even though I'm currently £360 in credit. Looks like they're getting us to pay their debts.
Should I switch now?0 -
Yeah i would switch now to a big company.AnnOyd_2 said:I've just had an email from them saying they are increasing my DD by £16 per month, even though I'm currently £360 in credit. Looks like they're getting us to pay their debts.

Should I switch now?Just now received an e-mail too. Increase of £10 from 1st October. Account over £100 in credit.Panic stations at Igloo in a probably futile attempt to increase their finance pot subsidised by their customers.I will ride it out too.Ironically I switched to Igloo from Avro! Fortunately I did receive a credit balance from them.1 -
I must admit..i have probably panicked, but i initiated a switch yesterday to British Gas. The tariff wasnt too far away from the one i am on with Igloo ( well when the increase starts on 1st October). I think i am going to cancel my DD too as i am currently £129 in credit, with a bill due at the end of the month, & the following month as we are light users.. so that will more than cover the amount needed. I am hoping the switch goes through..FifiAnne said:I'm with igloo, Martin said they were in discussion with administrators. Should I start a switch or is it too late? Don't want to get caught up in limbo if they go bust!1 -
It should go through, Igloo haven't announced they've ceased trading yet, i think the real danger in a move being blocked is switching after companies cease trading and a SoLR has been appointed.Ferboz said:

Energy companies have a habit of preventing you switching if you cancel direct debits.Ferboz said:I must admit..i have probably panicked, but i initiated a switch yesterday to British Gas. I would not suggest you switch, your credit is safe in the event of them going bust, the direct debits are often increased based on your forecasted use this winter. They will revert it if you contact them.AnnOyd_2 said:I've just had an email from them saying they are increasing my DD by £16 per month, even though I'm currently £360 in credit. I do not know your usage but if I had a credit of £360 I would be asking for £300 back

I personally would ask Igloo to refund all or most of your credit then switch.0
