  • I’m joining for the first time, £400 budget for two - our spend has way exceeded this in the past few months so this will be a challenge and I hope to reduce it in future months!
I’ve started with opening a new bank account with an app that categorises my spending, hoping this will help 🤞🏻 I’m also planning to primarily online shop as it’s the small shops that I seem to go a bit mad with!
wish me luck and good luck to you all!!

  • Thanks for the new thread, @elsiepac.  Please put me down for

    £140

For October.   That’s for two adults for all groceries, not just food.  It excludes meat bought at the Butcher’s Shop - separate budget - but if we do go there, I’ll mention it.  Our month runs from 1st October to 31st.

Apologies in advance but our October budget may change because we will have money left over from September.  I don’t know how much yet.  (We’re away this week on holiday, and there’s £70-ish left in the GC purse.)

    - Pip
"Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!

2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge 66 coupons - 25.5 spent.

    4 - Thermal Socks from L!dl
4 - 1 pair "combinations" (Merino wool thermal top & leggings)
6 - Ukraine Forever Tartan Ruana wrap
    8 - 4 x 100g/450m skeins 3-ply dark green Wool Local yarn
    1.5 - sports bra
    2 - 100g/220m DK Toft yarn
  • Good morning everyone and welcome to October! May all of your spends be budgeted for! 🤪

@elsiepac Could you put me down for £250 this month please?

My month runs 24th- 25th this month and I’ve decided to add an extra £20 on account of struggling to stay within the budget.

I think this has been mostly born out of me not including my 1 year old as causing extra spends but in reality she eats 2 meals a day at home, plus snacks which are mostly fruit and despite being tiny she had a very impressive appetite. We’ve also switched to cows milk for bed time feeds so this uses an extra 2 pints of milk every 4 days. It’s not a lot but all adds up.

Throughout August, she had all meals at home since she wasn’t in nursery but even prior to that, I was supplying food for nursery as I wasn’t happy with their offerings for such a little one.

I can’t even blame my husband for taking spends for beer from the food budget as he mostly pays for this himself and our terrible crisps habit doesn’t really cost us that much.

So I have to assume her little belly full means we need extra funds.

With all that in mind, the extra £20 may help keep things in order.

We do already meal plan, use up cupboards supplies and often have 2 pick ups a week from Olio so I think with the extra, if it is that we are able to stick to this then I’ll keep it up until the year year and then try and pull back a little if i can.

    Phew. Wish me luck!

  • Hi all, as my signature I’ve been erratic, not to say completely out of control, for many months. I blame COVID but it’s an excuse really. I’m embarrassed to say how much we spent in Sept but we will aim for £600 in October for 3 adults plus visitors, for food booze cleaning stuff and cat/rabbit food. Shakes head in disbelief….

Hi everyone, I would like to join this month too please.

    £200 for a family of 4 (2 small children)

I have always been quite careful with the food shop but would like the motivation to try and reduce it slightly! Also if it’s any good to anyone, Aldi are doing their £5 off a £25 shop again just now, just started today for two weeks! ☺️
