  • Managed to sell the playpen - was advertised for £40, she offered £30, I said £35.  So we've now just got cot, 3 x car seats and bases and a baby blender to go.  Then some clothing but going to do that over easter or when off in May.  So I think we now have £165 to pay into bank which is good.

Having a wobble about sending DC2 to nursery the extra day from Sept - we have such a nice time together when it's just the two of us and I can never get that time back.  So thinking of just keeping the status quo.  Will think about it over the weekend and let nursery know monday - they will easily fill the space (we only got it because someone else dropped out) as it's a very popular nursery.
  • Bought pom bear yesterday - £2.86.  Am working so hard to keep the spending down - DH now ordering a gate (which we do need to keep the DC in) but he thinks it's going to be around £400.  I think it's just irritating that the savings balance just pretty much stays the same!

Hopefully sold cot for £30.  Lady collecting tomorrow.

Work was mental yesterday!  Because I'm now helping 2 other jurisdictions and also another 2 teams in my own jurisdiction, they keep firing stuff at me and I just can't get to my own work which I need a good run at and lots of time to concentrate on just that as it's pretty technical.  But it is a good opportunity to get myself known more across the business.  And then can justify more hours if I want to from next Sept.

Today we have a lady coming to house to see DC1 re his assessment for additional support.  He's met her twice before so that's good - she now just wants to see him in the home setting.  So I have cleaned(!) this morning (well, a little) as house is trashed.

Dinner from stores tonight and am FTming my best friend from school again so looking forward to that.

Had to call emergency plumber last night - they had come earlier in the week to fix a dripping outside tap - DH used it for first time since last night and some water unit on the wall in the utility (outside also) started spurting water all over the floor.  They fixed it but GOD KNOWS how much that is going to cost!!!!

We had the same with our outside tap when we moved in. Turned in on and water burst out all inside the kitchen from behind the cupboards! Turned out wasn't too expensive just a connection had gone. Our plumber cut a piece out the side of our undersink cupboard to get to it and sorted it.
It seems people who plan to move don't bother fixing things and leave the cost to the new owners 🤬 I stopped forwarding post after numerous problems and shredded it including an old persons bus pass 🤣 made me feel better

I too was disappointed by the ending of Pieces of Her. It had started so well! I also found the daughter extremely annoying! Such a wet lettuce for a supposedly 30 year old woman!
I LOVE that you call people wet lettuce. Me too!!
  • Took the DC to the park yesterday afternoon.  Started hailing to we headed to the cafe - cup of tea for me and a pack of biscuits to share for the DC - £2 cash.  Barely got to drink my tea as it was too hot to start with and the biscuits kept them quiet for only 2 minutes.  Gah.  Kids!

Dinner was from stores last night - FTimed my best mate in UK which was lovely.  She is now off to florida for 2 weeks (lucky thing) and is flying first class (she never normally does this and she said it's likely they'll never do it again) - good for her, I want photos!!

Epic fail as DH rang on way back from band to suggest fish and chips/burger from the chippie!  So we had 2 dinners (and I wonder why I am fat).

Today am working (currently on lunch break).  Was going to go for a run but IT IS SO COLD.  I just cannot face it.

Big shop tonight/some extra things from different shops tomorrow.  DC1 has to wear green to nursery on weds and he doesn't have a green jumper so going to have to find one of those on weekend - might try charity shop.

Looks like I have now sold the cot (£30), 1 car seat/base (£20) and jungle gym (£5) so presuming they all collect, it's another £55 in the pot!

Still got blender/steamer, 2 x car seats and bases, gro-bags and loads of clothes to go.

No one appears interested in my maternity clothes so going to donate to a family friend who is pregnant.  She may as well make use of them.

    All very dull.

Charity shops are excellent idea for silly must wear this or that day to nursery/school. Do they not realise a.theres a global cost of living crisis and b. There's a global climate crisis.
If you have any friends with kids ask about if anyone's got something to borrow or paint his face green with face paint. You could attach leaves to a plain jumper as a protest (pretend your an eco warrior or he's doing camouflage)

That sort of requirement for school/nursery always really annoys me too. Waste of money and clothes, but the kids are peer pressured into doing something.

I also hate dressing up, so I guess that doesn’t help me either!

  • Yes, it is all rather annoying.  Have asked MIL to look in charity shop this morning but may have to nip myself today/mon/tues.

Cot went (£30 - cried), 1 car seat (£20).  Play mat lady messing me about and is now coming Weds.  If she doesn't show am just going to charity shop it as too much hassle for a fiver.  Now need to re-advertise 1 car seat and do another for the first time, but have over £200 to pay into bank on Monday, so that is positive.

Shopping was quite a lot this week between last night and today.  DH is making steaks with hassleback potatoes, green beans and a red wine/shallot sauce tonight.  He's also supposed to be making butternut squash soup for lunch but has disappeared off into the garden as usual!

Also bought easter eggs - lots of.  But generally, list was stuck to other than that.  Had to do a b**ts run.

Poss take the DC to park this arvo as DC1 keeps asking to go to the park but DC2 sleeping currently.  Weekends go so quickly by the time we've organising shopping/supplies.

Might watch a film with DH tonight if anything decent on.  No plans whatsoever for tomorrow currently which is nice.

Work is quite manic.  In a way that's good as a I am a lot better under pressure and because the other jurisdiction are shouting for stuff I know I have to get it done, so I get focused and do it.  I find if I have too much time/leeway I can be a little bit (or a lot!) lazy!!!!

Plus I feel like I am actually being useful now which is good.
