@REBECCAPEARSON Do you not have to isolate any more if there is Covid in your household?
    Nope.  Not where we are.
  • Thank goodness Covid hit AFTER the move.
I know. We are literally SO grateful.  Being stuck in that flat with covid would just have been awful.  At least here we have space so I can WFH and DH and the DC can roam.

It seems that unless your employer actually says you must tell them if you have covid you are free to attend work & infect all in sight now.  They will be wondering soon why rates are shooting up again.  Nothing like freedom!
  • Knackered today after both DC up seventyfivebillion times in the night.  DH - I can't decide whether he's really suffering or not.  He can't sit still and is hanging pictures on the wall but then moaning if I ask him to do anything.  I feel rough but tested negative twice yesterday - not sure about today.

Feel like I should go to food shop even though we don't need anything - I guess it's because food brings comfort and so I just want to buy "nice things" - but we don't NEED any.

Outbuilding bill came back more than quoted - 2891 - it was due to the asbestos weighing more than they thought so dumping charges.  Rather annoying.

I really need to get DH to sit down today and do a financial reccie and update our S/O's to reflect new expenses.  Sky has gone up again and I've asked him to cancel sports - he doesn't want to but I said that we barely have time to watch a 30 minute programme at the moment and it will only get worse with the decorating and garden - so it makes sense.  I am happy also to give up box sets on it for the same reason.  That should bring it down to what it is at the moment.  I'll try to get him to do that today. - he only watches the cricket.

Not sure I'll be going to this lunch tomorrow because I don't think DC2 will be going to nursery and not sure about DC1.  So DH might need me here, even if I'm working.

All very boring at the moment but grateful given what is going on in the world that life is actually just the mundane and every day right now

Yesterday was a NSD!  Largely unheard of - Woo hoo!

I am feeling awful today - really really fatigued and horrid cough but STILL testing negative.  Running around this morning has not helped.  Went and got more LFT's as we hardly had any.  Then petrol.  Went to the cheapest garage on the rock and filled up and whilst out that way, went to the cheap supermarket and got (all cheaper than WR) decaf tea, alphabites and potato waffles, tommy k and a bunch of easter eggs as they were on offer at cheaper than I'd seen anywhere else.  Usually always leave it too late and then don't have any, though of course we have to try not to eat them now!!!

Then to M&S - milk(!) x4, satsumas and raspberries for the DC, treats for us and some bread.  Forgot to get cheddar or baps which was annoying because then got to WR and they had no baps and their cheddar was £££.  Figure we will be passing M&S next couple of days (and think we have enough until then) so will get then.

Then to WR to get the rest.  So we are now well stocked again and needed things like Mayo and HP sauce due to having run out, low sugar beans for the DC etc and biscuit tin needed to be topped up.

Anyway, am now exhausted and just want to sleep but of course we have the DC who are both unwell.

Whilst I was out, DH tackled Sky (well done him).  We had been paying £29.83 a month (though barely using it as the dish didn't work in the flat and it was a faff to link it through Sky Go.  Then here we are using it but mainly for kids stuff and recording - plus Greys Anatomy.  Anyway, DH got a notification the bill was going up to £62 so I thought we ought to reduce it down by getting rid of Sports and boxsets - when he rang it was actually going to be £70 a month!!!!!!  Anyway, he haggled and has got it down to £31 for 18 months keeping boxsets which is a good morning's work.

    I now need to sleep.
Well done you and DH and hope the littles get well soon xxx
  • I have covid.  Tested faint positive yesterday midday and now a strong positive.  Feeling awful.  DH has it and both DC.  Can't even rest as DC1 was up 4 times in the night.  Not working today as a result of feeling terrible.  Hoping work sympathetic as obvs not only not well myself but have 2 unwell DC here so it's just impossible.  Can you tell I'm feeling sorry for myself?!

Finally did a financial reccie with DH yesterday and updated the standing orders for our various bills accounts etc.  Finances towards works looking healthy at present but if we can cut back further then that would be beneficial.  At least today should be a NSD(!) and our alcohol bill has been zero this week (as in, we've not tucked into any supplies which would then need replacing) as we've been poorly.

DH hasn't told his mother or any of her family that we have covid.  I messaged her yesterday to say DC2 wouldn't be coming this week to which she said "ok.  Is he alright?" and I have just ignored it.  A little petty of me I know but she, in my view, has made it quite clear where my children come in her list of priorities, especially in comparison to her other grandkids.

Is everyone else worried about the cost of living crisis?  If so, what are you doing to combat it? (I know we have very little to complain about when you look at what the people of the Ukraine are going through, but I guess it doesn't stop the worry)

@[Deleted User] You poor soul! It's bad enough having Covid yourself without the whole family being ill as well. Just concentrate on getting through all this and staying sane.
