@QueenJess - fingers crossed for you! Ours still a nightmare at the moment - another night with very little sleep!
Am not going to post here what was spent on food shopping the last 2 days - I honestly don't know how it all adds up to so much. However, apart from top ups of milk and bread, we should be good until NYE. We will probably be good for a bit post-that, but will want to eat something "nice" NYE and NYD, so expecting to buy some more stuff then.
Today is non-working for me. DH is WFH. Raining though and DC2, we can't really take out as he is shivering in the cold, so we are having a day in the lounge in front of the tv. Not ideal but.
Am working tomorrow morning until 1230, as is DH, but we are going to take our laptops to MIL's and work from there so the DC can join in with their cousins. MIL will also do brunch.
Have asked if completion can be brought forward a week, asked yesterday but no response yet - really hoping it can. That would mean we would be out 7 weeks today if so. We are going to complete on the Tuesday but not move until the Thursday so that DH and I can clean the carpets, cupboards etc and let them dry and get the kids' toys set up for them.
Bank valuer going in first week of Jan and told DH he will turn around same day, my friend who is doing HB is going in w/c 10 Jan and I've asked him to just confirm on phone no major issues so we don't have to wait for his written report and we can crack on.1 -
DD totally lost it yesterday afternoon with her teeth and even I struggled to calm her down, which is unheard of. So still a nightmare and she really wants to cuddle me all night long. I’ve just given up now and am sacrificing some sleep to sit downstairs for a while in the evening to have time away from the kids and preserve my sanity.
All sounds good now re: the house. You can look forward to 2022 🙂. I don’t know how we spend so much in food either (although the kids and DH never stop eating which is a clue), but I’m determined to rein it in a bit for 2022. @QueenJess - oh no, it's really neverending hey?! Another rough night here too as both DC poorly!
Off to MIL in a sec for the morning - she is doing brunch so we won't have to worry about lunch today. Both DH and I will have to log on until 1230 but then done. Might take kids to park after that, dependent on weather and also how they are in themselves - DC2 still not happy but no longer has a temp, whereas DC1 now has quite a temp on him!
Then, later this afternoon we are going to hunker down with nibbles, crisps, chocolate, wine (or maybe gin) and a christmas film. Still have some wrapping to do for the DC(!).1 -
A silly night here. DD has no trouble with teeth in the day, so looked like a break and I was looking forward to a better night. She woke at 11pm and it took me 3 hours to get her back to sleep. Absolutely no reason for it and she just got more and more awake until she saw lots of interesting things in a dark room and started chuckling to herself 🤦♀️.On the plus side, she was then knackered (so complained at me..) and slept soundly until 7am when DS woke her up. That’s the best quality sleep I’ve had for ages 🙄.
You just can’t guess with her! Still better than DS who had terrible reflux when he was a baby and would not sleep on his own at all. Took until 18 months for him to go into his own bed and I never slept properly until then. I used to hate the mother and baby groups where everyone seemed to have “normal” children and I had no one to share my problems with (don’t really know anyone where I live). Made me feel much worse. I decided they were either lucky or putting on a front for other stuff that must have been rubbish. I can’t have been the only one!
Anyway, I will stop hijacking your thread! Hope you have a lovely Xmas.2025 decluttering: 4,908 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟2025 use up challenge: 351🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Mini freezer challenge 0/-20Big kitchen declutter challenge 115/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 5000 -

@QueenJess - the vast majority of those mothers saying their kids slept through from the minute they were born are telling porkies! Baby groups are notorious for being as bad as social media when it comes to this sort of stuff! No worries on the hijack - sending strength.
@enthusiasticsaver - thank you, and you too!
Am up because DC1 screamed out for me - he now has what DC2 had and has a raging temp so I've just given him nurofen (kids obvs) and some milk and just gonna wait 30 mins or so to check on him to see temp coming down. DH snoring but he has done lots today (including making his wonderful chicken, squash and pesto lasagna!) so I've got up and let him sleep. Spent £4.35 on milk yesterday (xmas eve) to get us through.
Agent came back (finally!). Vendors willing to consider an earlier completion but are currently due to be in uk end jan/early feb so wouldn't be able to if that went ahead (they don't yet know if it will due to restrictions in wales) - so we've agreed to leave as 15th so we don't lose our movers. A bit disappointing but totally understandable from their point of view so, 15 Feb it is, all being well!
Had a lovely brunch at the MIL's this morning - I worked whilst there, as did DH but we also got to see the DC just loving being with their cousins and the 2 dogs. DC1 just totally buzzes around his cousins which is lovely to see as he's not really that sociable with other kids (bar 1 set of my good friend's). Had a cheeky bucks fizz too.
Then got through a bottle of bubbles (from stores!) between 130 and 830 (so not too bad as so elongated) and watched Frozen which DC loved and bits and bobs. Wrapped remaining stocking fillers until we ran out of room (so we now have some presents for another day!). Eaten SO MUCH JUNK!!!!!1 -

Just a thought with the sleeping, could you and DH take turns to be 'on duty' at night and the other one gets a good night's sleep? We used to do that sometime when ours were ill or something. That way there's always a fully functioning adult and the other one knows there's a night of sleep ahead the next day!Just caught up & was thinking exactly this when I got to it. My ExH & I used to do this all the time. Usually 2 nights on & 2 nights off. But I would suggest taking those ADs. Children pick up when their parents are stressed & it makes then behave at less than their best. I understand the worries about talking too. My DS didn't talk at all until he was 3, no mama no dada, nothing. His first word spoken totally clearly was downstairs! It was decided that he just didn't feel the need! If only we knew what was going on in their heads. A friend of mines third child didn't talk for ages, they finally realised that the 2 older ones were speaking for her.My DS had trouble reading too. Reading age of 6 when he was 8.5 to over 12 by the time he was 9. I found this much more worrying than the talking, but then I was reading at 3.

@badmemory - yes, the last couple of nights we have done this more and it has been easier. So hard not to worry when they are "behind" on milestones hey?!
Well, xmas day was interesting. So will leave that there(!)
Yesterday had a lovely walk and coffee with 2 of my good friends (the daughter and SIL of our landlady). Could only take DC2 as DC1 fell asleep on sofa just before due to leave and still has temps off and on. Spent £2.70 on milk. DH made our tranditional duck parmentier last night which is just divine but SO LARDY.
Today we are not going to do a whole lot as is bucketing down. And we need to try potty training DC1 again. Lunch and dinner from stores - there's a ready made welsh rarebit in fridge so will have that on some toast for lunch then squash, chicken and pesto lasagna from stores for tea. Will probs go up to MIL's for a change of scenery, and we will probably need milk (again!)2 -
I'm in trouble with MIL for my behaviour on xmas day - won't go into it, but she's a bit of a hypocrite. DH hates christmas day at her house, so I've said to him (like I do every year), let's not go there next year. Fingers crossed we can have it in our OWN house next year (on our own - she basically said on xmas eve "you can host next year") - if not, we MUST go away. Anyway, not sure I want to see her for a while.
I didn't leave flat yesterday, but we def need milk today. DH going to root through freezer and cupboards to see what we can have for lunch. Dinner will be the duck parmentier from freezer. I'm working tomorrow, so will spend on a baguette and we also need handwash - there will be no more baguettes in new year, lunch will be taken in but it's my last hurrah (who can resist southern fried chicken with sweet chilli sauce and grated cheese?!). DH off tomorrow so will no doubt go to his mums where she can moan about me and what an awful person/mother I am. If she had her way, I'd be attending church twice a week and stay at home with the kids rather than work. Anyway! Families!!!!!
We've been looking at ideas for the house/jotting stuff down but we just feel we can't get excited.

Nipped to shop and spent £7.80 on milk (x3), bread, eggs and cream. Trying to potty train DC1 which went well yesterday but not so much today, so we might have to get out of the flat this arvo as DH is very very grumpy at everything.2
