Whilst i have never owned a GSHP (i'd love one) i find it hard to believe that the ground loop would require ANY maintenance after 10 years. Surely its just a piece of blue plastic 'water' pipe as used by every water company in the UK? I'd expect it to last 50 years or more!Is not the rest of the equiptment above ground, and easily servicable? All seems a bit strange to me!1

Some GSHPs use deep boreholes, rather than a buried "slinky" under the lawn. That's the only way to do it if there isn't enough garden to dig up.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
