Reply and send them the newspaper articles and state that clearly their client’s machines were negligently or deliberately set up to fail, and the fact that HX have been removed from the site and replaced by a new parking firm who are not causing such complaints, supports your defence.

HX are now cheerfully saying they allow ONE digit VRM error only, but I think their page used to say up to three digits, a few months ago. Might be wrong but can anyone find it?

We allow up to 2 digits incorrectly entered, any more than 2 digits incorrectly entered and we will make a request to the DVLA for the Registered Keepers details for non-payment as we can’t link the payment against the vehicle.

You are almost right - two digits.

As recently as 20th January 2021 it used to say...

It had changed to '1digit' by 10 April 2021.

Somewhat dated now, although the general thrust still has relevance. There has been some soft-shoe shuffling by Davies and Hurley in an attempt to disentangle themselves from each other and the two organisations - each now, on paper, having a solo role, one in each of the two.  Just another example of the smoke and mirrors that infest and poison this sector.

I went straight to Companies House which has Hurley still attached to both, regardless of a resignation from one.
