True. But then tell that to the desperate person who is massively stressed out, depressed and at their wits end because the aggressive condescending unregulated Debt Collector letters are coming in thick and fast! Yes I've been in that boat and am fortunately mentally strong enough to fight back and financially solvent. But not everyone and a lot of people are on the poverty line so for them this is very big deal. You can see that from the some of the posts on here and reviews on Trustpilot. Some of these parking fines are a weeks wages/ monthly food shop for a lot of families. Especially post-pandemic where people have struggled financially enough as it. The charges aren't proportionate as it is and get even worse because DCBL or DRP are now on the trail where they want that extra fantasy penalty of £60 on top and won't let it go!!! What is a 'First World' problem for one person may be a bigger deal for someone else. I like to think I can empathise.Thrugelmir said:

Well said 95Rollers. The Beavis case was decided by people for whom the parking charge is the cost of a good bottle of claret.95Rollers said:

There are always more important things to deal with, and there always will be. A government only concentrating on the most important (to them) or urgent matters would never achieve anything apart from constant fire-fighting and reaction-based policy only. Even in the face of a pandemic or economic downturn, it's important to have those junior ministers keep nibbling away at all those other things that need to be done.Perhaps there's more important matters to be dealt with at the moment.7 -
I am less concerned about Mr J than I am about the competence of Mesdames Dorries and Truss to perform their duties. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

It's interesting that there are No Council members of the IPC - Aberdeen used to be but no longer:
I find myself agreeing with you.AnotherForumite said:The BPA are actually focused mainly on local authority parking, it's their #1 priority; the Private Sector is secondary for them (aside from their top 3-5 favorite private operators).

The top private operators will no doubt be those who bring in most money and influence, plus those on the board.
https://theipc.info/aos-members/a
I do have to ask myself why the following Universities are members:
Dundee
Essex
Glasgow
Leeds
They are all taxpayer funded in one way or another - always bleating about lack of funding but then paying away to this scumbag organisation.

The IPC did at one time pitch for councils. Guess word has spread about the IPC and public bodies cannot get involved.ihatetrump said:It's interesting that there are No Council members of the IPC - Aberdeen used to be but no longer:

Anyway, with the new code of practice and independent appeals service, the IPC will be a dodo with no practical purpose in life2 -
and with it go Hurley & Davies :

Hopefully Mr Gove will see that the IPC/IAS is not worthy of being an ATAihatetrump said:and with it go Hurley & Davies :

It would be an absolute travesty if all of the good work done along with the tireless hours of contributions given by so many on the Code of Practice went to waste.
Last year there were over 4.5 million KADOE requests made and paid for by PPC's - that number along with the 9 million requests made by Local Authorities makes up a sizeable proportion of the electorate (47.6 Million) and certainly many times the number of votes that could be garnered by the greedy PPC's. Those requests will cover every single constituency in the country and will represent votes that no MP, irrespective of their political persuasion will want to lose.
A correctly worded petition to the UK Government and Parliament that gathers 100,000 signatories requires it to be considered for debate in Parliament - can a petition not be started that after careful wording puts back into the play all of the CoP work that has been done to date?
Related to this but on a slightly different track, I note that there is an existing petition running to "Prevent DVLA from giving/selling driver information to private parking companies" - at 324 signatures, it needs some help - it costs nothing to register and sign up.

'"Prevent DVLA from giving/selling driver information to private parking companies"'
If that's the title of the petition, it's a complete non-starter, and not surprising that there are so few signatures.
The DVLA do not, and never have, given or sold driver information - how could they, when vehicles may be driven by various different people at different times.
The data they sell is the name and address of the registered keeper - that is all they hold on their database.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.7
