  • I opened my last Santander account when they had the great interest rate on up to 20k and just had money sitting in it to make the interest. I can't remember if there was a switching incentive around at that point, does anyone know?

I probably would have used it at that point but maybe not. If it there was no switching incentive then I should be good to go with this one... I just can't remember... Any thoughts on this appreciated!

I have now received my card and pin for the card after applying on monday.

Only issue now is its still not showing on my internet banking (existing customer but applied for a new account and new switch online).  Apparently the application i made online created a separate profile rather than connecting to my existing one, so had to post a form and photocopy of my ID, which i posted off Monday as well.

    ...
Well good news my end, they have now merged my profiles so i can now see my account online with my existing account, so can now fulfil the log in criteria.  Switch date for me was set for 11th October, so have  little while yet.

I can see the direct debits are now showing on the sacrificial account i am switching in (Barclaycard, Post office savings), and have also connected Paypal to my new Santander account as well so that is already on Santander.

I think i will pay the £1k in this weekend (and out again).  Going to move it from an external account just in case, rather than my existing Santander account, just in case, that way don't have to worry i will forget to do the transfer.
    MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..

Similar situation here. Money moved over, but old (TSB) account still showing as open with zero balance. I'll check again later.

The old account always shows on the day of switching. It will disappear overnight.

My Tesco account was gone on the morning of switch completion when I switched it into Nationwide.

Oooh well i got the Visa Debit card, Have asked them to order me the mastercard if not no worries will get it some point soon
I was surprised to get a short dated Visa Debit too.

Internet banking seems clunky and fairly dated. Android app seems functional but definitely nothing to write home about.

yeah same here but as i said everyday current accounts will be last on list for master cards,

ios app/online banking seems easy to use
  • Does the £1000 need to be in their when they pay the bonus or can I just deposit and then withdraw it the next day and still qualify leaving just £1 in their?!
