When DS was 12lb (he was 5 weeks) the midwife told us to ignore the written guidance about no solids for three months (now 6 if media to be believed) and to mix a little (Robinsons; bought by Cow and Gate in 1994) baby rice into his milk to fill him up a bit more as he was apparently a hungry baby. After weeks of complete misery, with constant crying when we added a teaspoonful he slept. I could not begin to recommend this as don't know how big DD2 is but it worked for us. By 7 weeks he was having a meal of baby rice and just four bottles. He was a big baby though.

Sympathies, Ed - I have no knowledge whatsoever to impart, but I know the distress a distressed baby can cause, and I feel for you all.

Sorry things are tough.... I bought or borrowed a mechanical baby swing for mine...

Some find the baby slings also help... as it sooths the baby as they can hear your heart beat like they did in the womb.

I appreciate it's not answer to colic - but my help lull her to sleep

  • Is DD exclusively breast fed? If so, try with a small top up of formula once a day just in case she’s still hungry.

@the_end_of_the_rainbow - DD2 is on a bit of both - typically two 4 ounce bottles of formula in addition to breastfeeding
