No clue what a big or a small riddy is and I am afraid to Google it !I love Scotland and the people but I found singing in Gaelic to be far harder than dozens of other languages including Swahili!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Never forget people, the perfect is the enemy of the good!Tried to optimise our finances too much by paying all of my money into a cash ISA. The ISA took the money straight away but won't give any back for 3 working days
Cue the need to take out an arranged overdraft to pay the DDs which will cost IRO £6 until the money comes back from the ISA.
Welp, won't do that one again! Silly Mr E...7 -
I had to look it up too (big riddy, that is). I know you live in the west but it's claimed (by the Glasgow Times) as a Glasgow term. I suppose Edinburgh has fewer similar slang terms...
- I did know welp though!

Back from an overnight in London with DD1 and absolutely knackered. Saw Spirited Away at the Coliseum and it was fab 😀 Travel on the way back was a nightmare (got lost in Westminster, took wrong train to Luton airport, severe delays to overground trains and flight delayed by 2.5 hours).
Had to speak to a senior manager about my absence today and was left feeling like crap due to their confrontational manner and repetitive questions (what are you doing to improve your wellbeing)? We'll just ignore the fact that I raised several suggestions to integrate me back into the office and they were all stonewalled then... It's all a bit surreal. Go off work because you can't cope with various aspects of work, suggest changes, work offer to change none of them and then ask you if you've fixed your own stress yet? I can't help but feel I'm dealing with idiots or borderline nasty folk who just don't care.
Finances looking a bit tight but in control. Paid off £800 of credit card debt, all July bills and removed temporary overdraft.7 -
I live on the west coast but a bit further south- I’ve never heard of a big riddy!
I’ve read your diary on and off over the years. I’m sorry about your work situation. I had a similar situation a number of years ago. I did go back after a period of being off sick but was fortunate to go on a secondment just after. I did have to go back to my own post after the secondment but knew the direction I wanted to go in and gained some additional qualifications and eventually changed roles. Having a focused goal allowed me to manage my existing role until then.
Did you apply for any of the OU courses? I started one at SCQF level 11 last week. Nice opportunity to get a Master’s level module for free.2017 - mortgage of £140,000 and interest rate of £10 a day

Yes, they could be idiots or nasty, but it could also be that they are ensnared in the same treadmill that you were in, without your perspective and so can’t see the logic of what you are saying. If they did ‘see’ it, acknowledge it and do something about it, I suspect they would then have to look at the effects on both themselves and all their reports. A lot of people don’t have the moral courage or energetic cojones to challenge an organisational culture to that degree. It doesn’t make them nasty, more thoughtless, lazy and passive.Glad London was fun 😊KKAs at 15.07.25:
