I am currently having Club Lloyds (CL) Current Account, can I downgrade to normal current account.
And then, applied a new CL current account and switch my old Metro Bank here and get the switch offer?
Probably... because whilst others have done it, we on here can't be sure Lloyds will let Alandaniel do it.
If they do allow first bit, and the Metro ac fits their criteria, then it'll be ok.

interesting you got paid the bonus before the account switch was complete, hope I get the same! says in the T&Cs it would be paid after the switch, I opened my account on the 16th but all that ive got so far was the internet banking activation code :(

interesting you got paid the bonus before the account switch was complete,

I think that the switch completed on the 16th.  I looked at the Lloyds app today (20th) and the dds and payees were already in place (as well as the bonus paid) even though the switch is only due to complete on the 21st.

Edit: Donor account is still open and balance not yet transferred so switch not yet complete.

  • Having just read the last post, I logged into my new Lloyds account, which is due to complete a switch tomorrow (21st) and found the account had been credited with the £100 bonus on 15th.
Nice to see a bonus paid before the switch has even completed, and quite surprising really.  I wonder what happens if somehow the switch cannot complete, but they’ve paid out the money?  Perhaps once the train is in motion, there’s no stopping it.    Anyway, nice to get the money so fast, unlike the Santander one at the moment where apparently you have to wait 60 days.

Same here.  £100 credited today, switch date 24th, old account still open with £10 in it.
  • I'm trying to switch a Monzo current account that I've had for two years and just keep getting this message:

    We cannot switch this account

We’ve checked your old account and it cannot be switched. Check on your bank statement and debit card that:

    1. The sort code and account number you provided for your old account are correct.
    2. Your name, address and date of birth on your old account match your new account.
    3. If your old account is a joint account then your new account must be joint and both names need to be correct.
Everything I've entered is correct.  My Monzo debit card shows my first name and surname, no title or initials, although the Lloyds application asks for first, middle and surnames, as shown on my passport and driving licence.  Any suggestions welcome!

  • Not sure what it can be tbh.

I have switched my Virgin account (First name, Surname) to Lloyd's (First Name, Middle Name, Surname) with no issues.

    Something's not clicking right.

Have you tried (and good luck with this) contacting Monzo to see if it is them rejecting the switch, and why?
  • I will try again later.  Does it make a difference whether I nominate the Lloyds account to be my main account, or not?  It won't be, and the Monzo account history would confirm that, I've seldom had more than £20 in it, but it is used regularly, and has two small direct debits set up just in case a switching incentive beckoned!  Or perhaps my income is too low (part time job, retiring next year).

No - you wouldn't have got that message - you'd get a 'decline' if they didn't want you.

Bear in mind a decline can be generated by a technical fault/algorithm and, if you're determined, can be still usually done by a phone call and/or branch visit.
