    .
I dislike it too. I used to prefer it before they moved the Savings account onto a separate tab, and I keep ending up in the wrong place when I want to check my recent transactions.

I've also noticed, recently, that when I log in, my balance is not up to date. It updates after a few seconds, but this has caught me out before and led to a declined card payment. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, there is a pause before update. Crappy programming, always retrieve/refresh before display.

Is it just me that has to type the PIN in twice to authorize on-line payments?
First to open the App and then, three seconds later, to 'authorize' the payment.

Yes, I use biometrics but get prompted once to log in and once to authorise the transaction. Chase is not alone in taking this approach.

    Things I like:
    1% cash back on spending
    1% interest on current account
    3.3% interest on savings account
Very easy to move money between both accounts.

None of that entices me to use Chase as my main account. I can get the same or better cashback on almost all my spending, and I can move savings between my CHIP and Santander account nearly as fast as I can move funds between my Chase current and savings account. I do very occasionally use Chase for larger purchases when my cashback credit cards won't give me at least 1% cashback (assuming the purchase isn't on Chase's exclusions list).

The main bits I am missing most in Chase are
    • Open Banking
    • CASS
    • cashback for DDs
    • market-leading interest rates, for both, the savings account for the current account
    • online banking as a backup when there are probs with the app

I have NatWest and RBS credit cards with 1% on most supermarket spend. I can also see Amex for up to 1% and Asda for 1% at Asda.

Which others do you have for at least 1%?

    Possibly no longer available?

AFAIK, Amex and RBS/Natwest are the only ones currently still available. Though obviously subject to getting accepted.

I also have an ancient Barclaycard from 2007 (NLA) which only pays 0.5% now - though this is sometimes 0.5% more than I would get from Chase, and if Amex isn't accepted, as I get 0.5% at all retailers without exceptions. They also have an additional rewards scheme, from which I have somehow made a fiver in the last month, though this is probably an outlier as those reward schemes are usually pants.

After happily using the Chase app for over a year, it has suddenly asked me to prove my ID. By taking a photo of other passport or driver licence, then taking a selfie. At this I failed, apparently. Twice. And so I accepted their offer to "have it reviewed, which may take several hours". During which time I can't use the app.
Apart from being inconvenient for me, I wonder what folk who don't have either document would do?
Proving your ID is a prerequisite of getting an account in the first place. We all had to do it. Folk who don't have an acceptable photo ID document would be unable to complete registration for an account. My experience was it took 5 or 6 attempts to get an acceptable photo.
It is now necessary to re-verify ID any time you reinstall the app, clear its data, or register it on a new device.

I got a new phone and had to do the "get an acceptable photo malarky" . It`s not one of life`s wonderful experiences after 4 or 5 attempts!

Yes I've noticed that - and ended up having a payment declined because I thought that at a glance I had enough in the account.  The app is really slow to respond vs  my high street bank apps.

And another thing which really isn't clear.... the round up account pays 5%, but only for 12m from the date you opened it.  After 12m it sweeps whatever you've got in there into your savings account and then it starts again.  So you only get 5% on the first month or so, then anyhting you put in in the next month only earns interest for 11 months, then 10 months then 9 months etc.
I think the round up money is better off in the savings account.  At least you get 3.3% /12 every month.

Amex for 5% cashback for 3 months up to £100. Then 0.75% after.

I have a natwest credit card, I don't get any cashback on it!

I looked into santander - but my husband has LPOA for his aunt and uses the santander app for her account.  He wouldn't be able to set up his own account on the app and would be limited to using the PC, and we didn't want this for our main current account. For the same reason we aren't going for Barclays Blue - plus we hate barclays!  Terrible service, terrible security, terrible app.
