Requested Tuesday morning about 0830; code arrived this morning signed up, text message saying checks completed arrived before I’d finished reading the t’s and c’s.

Now on the app I clicked Add+ thinking it would allow me to add funds….. so I appear to have two current accounts with chase now.

Same issue here, problems with the ID then message that they are unable to offer an account 😢
That's a bit rubbish. I wonder if you could try again in six months?
I wonder why Chase has rejected the apolication.  Is there anything else in the email?

I am still waiting f9r my code to come through so I can apply.
I have received a code and signed up.

No hiccups and account now open, card on the way. At the end of my application it went for checking but was approved within 10 mins. In defence of those with glasses, it does actually say in the app you can keep them on when you take the selfie. So clearly there is another reason why the account was rejected. Chase may operate their own scoring system like other banks do. I have been rejected at Santander before, no reason a few years ago. Perfect credit score etc, it was just computer says no, so probably the came with Chase for those that got blocked. I'd say try again in six months.

I’m on a roll now. 69p ‘earned’ already. What will I spend it on? 🤣

It takes a couple of days from making a purchase but then you have access to the cashback straight away. Nice feature, way faster than other cashback schemes.

I haven’t tried yet whether you can combine with other cashback schemes (Topcashback etc) - has anyone else?

Well done, tried using it to pay in Asda via Apple Pay got declined, this was an hour 30 mins after opening funding. It was only for a £5.50 spend so no great deal.

so be careful with TopCashback I got a declined cash back once in cotswolds outdoors, tcb declined as I’d paid with Sainsbury’s credit card which is a loyalty scheme so invalidated the cash back. I was sure I’d previously used it and got it, this might well be considered the same.

My first payment, which I tried within minutes of funding my Chase account, also got declined. Mine was a deposit to NS&I, so I assumed they had just banned such transactions. I just tried it again, and it now worked fine(*). So it may well be they need a couple of hours from sign-up/funding before the card functions.

The NS&I deposit does not appear in the list of Cashback transactions. I.e. no cashback for deposits, as their bumph said there wouldn't be. Same with Skipton, to save people trying.

    * I still haven't got the physical card. Not complaining, as I can use the card details for online purchases and with Curve (which is my default card in ApplePay)

As you'll see if you read the last few pages of this thread, it's a few days.
  • Requested code Tuesday morning. Email just arrived (08.30am) and account now up and running. Really easy to be honest.

Is this a soft or hard search when opening? Seen mixed comments elsewhere

There shouldn't be a hard search. Like Monzo and Starling, it's a soft search for identity checking and KYC/AML (Know Your Customer/Anti-Money Laundering). I have a TransUnion soft search dated 22nd Sep 2021, which also happened to be the day my Credit Karma report was updated and was visible immediately after I registered the Chase account, but it's not yet visible on Money Supermarket's credit report.
