I have accounts with 5 different banks, All with a minimum of £1000 in each.
Glad I did a few years back when TSB went wrong after their update.
I was using it as main account at the time and could not access money, wages or pay bills.
Got £600 plus in compensation so not to bad a deal after all.
I think everyone should have at least 2 accounts just in case.
For 25 year my preference has been First Direct can’t fault them, other hate them.2 -
Just made my fourth transfer out of Chase in a week, and yes, you’ve got it, all four blocked for security and all four to the same bank account in my name. Tedious or what, I’m just glad I don’t need the money for an emergence.
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -

Well I jumped ship and back to Starling...yes I won't get Interest on round ups...and won't get the 1.5% on saving but honestly don't have thousands and thousands in savings so would rather known if I need my money I can get it immediately.
I had to contact Chase once and the fact it took 24 hours to answer my message...which I sent after a 1 hour wait trying to get through on phone.

I transferred another four figure sum out of my Chase savings account this morning, again no issue. Just to give the other side of the coin.1

I'm wondering if all this is down to too many customers too soon, or it's just how it's always going to be.0

The issues with held up payments only started within the last fortnight. This makes me think that they implemented new fraud check procedures which need a lot of refining and/or a lot more human resources. The extraordinary 3-5 weeks it takes to open a new account must be down to their referral scheme, which saw an explosion in the number of people who were joining for a quick £20, and hoping to pocket £400. This should resolve itself, as they have now ended the scheme. Unless they up their interest rates, there will also be no longer be much incentive for savers to join them.1
