MisterPleasant said:Email today from BG telling me the "Great news" that I can now log in to my account to set up a D/D.
It also said "We've set up your payments as quarterly cash/cheque as we haven't been able to set up your Direct Debit". Which is a bit odd as I set up the DD a couple of weeks ago (apparently successfully). I guess I'll find out tomorrow when they're supposed to be taking the first DD!
UPDATE: Well no DD has been taken, why am I not surprised.Stompa0 -
Had my account set up with BG a while back. It shows both the original readings which are also showing on the PFP site for electricity. Though they are still showing an earlier reading for the gas. My £340 credit (or what’s left of it before PFP take their cut) has not appeared on the BG site. They are asking for me to set up DD details. But seeing as their variable rate fixed till April 2022 has the same tariff for cash/cheque can’t see any benefit for now. At least if I pay the bill by my cash back credit card I will get 0.5% back!0

I've managed to setup an account but not been asked to setup a direct debit and don't seem able to online. The special PFP bg number just says to wait and I can't speak to anyone. On the BG side I can only see a gas reading and no sign of electric. All bills and credit has disappeared from the PFP side. I'm expecting a pretty big bill as I've not had one for a few months now, which is just what you want before Xmas.0

This is taking ages! Still cant se my credit in my BG account and they want to charge me for last month. Told them where to go until my credit appears. Just set up my DD as email request but they wanted far more than my usage so had to argue that. BGs chat bot doesn't want to talk to me either! Glad I took some screen shots as PFP page doesn't show any account details any more. Guessing this is going to be many months of complaining and arguing to get it all sorted. Very poor.0

Whilst I'm no fan of BG, they can't apply any PFP credit until PFP have finalised accounts and notified BG of credit amounts. And given that nobody has yet reported a final bill from PFP it's likely this will be some way off.I, and a few others, have seen a final bill that was apparently put up in error and disappeared the following day.

Very poor.True, but a working BG account would be nice. They have had 2 months, surely it should be at least setup by now and working?0

Any point in setting up a DD with BG? I am happy to pay quarterly.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Albert Einstein0

BG's original wording was somewhat ambiguous but normally DD is the cheapest method. There's an scope in the Ofgem SVT charging structure to differentiate between payment methods.
