"I expect we may find out who the SoLR is today, it generally takes Ofgem 3 days to announce"

So, who do we think? SSE? EDF? OVO? Place your bets now...
    Octopus would be good.
Would be funny if it was Neon Reef, as I've just left them!
  • Long as its not Symbio!

Highly unlikely to be a "small" supplier. I would think that OFGEM are acutely aware of the perilous state of some of these operators already.

That's interesting. Cancelled my DD too and have had the automated email about that. But no charge yet. Was your payment due? Mines not due til the end of the month.
You might be right that there's a timing element to this. I cancelled my DD on the day they ceased trading and haven't received either the automated alert or notification of penalty. My next payment is (or rather was) not due until 27th Sep.
I received the 'DD Cancelled by Payer ADDACS Letter' today.  I read the OFGEM guidance and cancelled my DD on the 8th.
The first line reads 'We have been unable to take your monthly payment as you have cancelled your Direct Debit with us'.  Given my account is in credit and is sufficient to pay the outstanding usage and that the next DD date is the 22nd Sept, I think the letter is a bit cheeky... I hope PfP weren't trying to pull in a payment early.

I got the same email this morning after submitting fresh meter readings by email (no response saying they've received them though) and cancelling my DD yesterday. Mines not due until the start of Oct! I think it's just an automated email designed to scare you into keeping a DD set up so they can keep taking money when your bill is due - I don't think they were sneakily trying to take additional payments or anything of the sort.

    Long as its not Symbio!
    Hilarious idea. Can you imagine!
  • Oh dear. MIL will not be happy. She asked me to source another supplier and I chose PFP.  I had great service from the in the past and the price was competitive. Also I went via Top cash back for her so I take it there is no chance of them paying out now.

Unfortunately there is more chance of Symbio joining them rather than receiving any  PFP's customers.

I've cancelled my direct debit with PFP Energy after they lost their licence. In response, they have applied a penalty charge of £12 to my account, which was £72 in credit (now only £60).

Looks like the advice from Ofgem to "cancel your direct debit if you want to" could add more hassle for consumers. I guess I'll have to get this back from the SOLR.

My DD was due yesterday (9 September). I cancelled it the day before. Your penalty may still be still to come.
  • I had complaint open with PfP (faulty gas meter) and was waiting since 1st of July for recalculation of my bill. There was agreed meter reading that they were going to use to recalculate my bill. My gas bill was running like crazy and I'm £232 in debt without bill re-calculation. What will happen to this now? I don't want to pay £232 for nothing (gas not used, but charged by meter).

I moved electricity to PfP in June, on 1st of July they changed my meter to smart, that was faulty and never assigned to my account, so I never got billed for the usage and never had any bill from PfP since I joined them. Looks like, it's going to be right mess.
